How can some wild blueberries be organic, and others not? If they are farmed, how are they wild?

    • Hmmmm perhaps something like this,

Forest A: Wild blueberries are seen growing and then are sprayed with pesticide to ensure that the harvest of the berries is maximised (Pests don't eat them).

Forest B: Wild blueberries are seen growing and are not sprayed with any pesticides so are organic due to their nature.

I know pesticides aren't the only thing that determines organic vs non-organic but it is one of the key differences, and yes clearly if they are farmed (i.e. planted then harvested at a later date) they are non-wild.

    • From my understanding, the name wild is just the name given to the low bush blueberry Vaccinium angustifolium. It doesnt mean it is grown without any human interaction. While some do grow that way, they can be grown on land that is managed with spraying, pruning and/or other processes. Some use organic approved processes, some don't. Wild blueberries also can't be cultivated/planted like conventional blueberries and I believe it has to spread on its own which may be part of the reason why the name wild was used.

How do you get Organic with Wild? If it is wild, how is it controlled Organic? If Organic, isn't it farmed and not wild?

    • From google: "Organic-certified produce' means the food was grown, harvested, stored and transported without the use of synthetic chemicals, irradiation or fumigants"

I don't see how this excludes wild produce (if they aren't harvested, stored and transported with synthetic chemicals, irradiation or fumigants)?

Edit: looks like Organic certified has to be grown (farmed).

    And why is Perth excluded?
