The 'refills' for these are nuts

  • +5

Had chux refills that previously just peel off after a few washes, like they were just stuck on. The compatible dishmatic ones weren't any better. Had two packs that were almost unusable because it was not centred properly. The plastic mount was touching the edge of the sponge. Disgraceful UK quality.

I used to use dishmatic and it seemed like it was a fault , the refill wouldn’t clip to the handle and it would always leak

    • Agree with your sentiments but I found using not so hot water helps with the sponge staying on the attachment.. as stupid as that is

What with the cost of refills and the uncontrolled large amount of liquid soap these things pump out every time you use them, I don't think they could ever be considered a cheap option. Convenient certainly, but not cheap.

yeah i agree. my inlaws have these and they are the half-assed hand dishwasher's friend. good god they use 10x as much dish soapthough. make sure you rinse well!

You call these a deal? Camels shows third party used at just $2 only a year ago!

I used to use the Dishmatic version; highly annoying, no control of dishwashing liquid flow it's always too much or not enough. The sponge head refills never seem to quite fit correctly and last about a week or two. Leaks and makes a mess. Yeah they're cheap but they're shit.

Stumped up the cash for the Oxo brush version and haven't looked back. Precision dishwashing liquid control. Brush head refills last for ages, many months of everyday usage. Yeah it costs a lot more upfront but IMO is worth it in the long run.

Although if I didn't already have the Oxo I'd be tempted by the cheaper Da&Co with 4 different head types.

    • Where do you get replacement heads for the Da&co please?

      • I could only find these which bundle all 4 unfortunately. The sponges are going to wear out quicker than the brush, and I guess the silicone one would last even longer than the brush. So it'd be good if they sold each replacement type individually.

    • totally agree with the Dishmatic's leaking but I've noticed over the years they've improved. that oxo one looks real nice, might have to slip that into the cart, thanks for sharing

Landfill. Absolutely terrible, I find the sponge hardly lasts compared to a normal sponge. Clearly by design. And the cheap plastic handle leaks easily.

Go with the Oxo above or the Scrub Daddy stick!

Negative vote because it is a) literaly landfill b) when I went to GC with my partner a couple months we bought the generic brand for like a $1.40 at woolies… chux or not its not a bargain

  • So much hate for these. Get really good reviews on Amazon though. What to do?

Take the least effort option. Don't buy it. Hesitation shows you don't really need it.

      • That's an interesting statement. I think I'll use that idea for a lot of things going forward. It will surely save me money and feelings of buyers remorse.

Why not just use Ur own hands with a scrubber ? These are first world problems.

    • "Johnny the Boy, he's done it again, this time it's a scrubber, he'll never learn…"

  • The Aldi ones are cheap as well but I have the same complaints as the above posters. Will switch to a normal sponge once I use the last refill
