Policarbonate Suitcases Cabin and Luggage for $40 and $80 @ ALDI

60

Looking for some suitcases found this.
as long as the quality is good, I reckon is a great deal.

Not many specs at the Aldi webpage but this

  • Polycarbonate Suitcase
  • Polycarbonate exterior shell with TSA zip locks
  • 4 wheels that rotate a complete 360°
  • Internal luggage straps and mesh divider pockets
  • Soft touch grab handle

Anyone got one of these last year? comments?

  • I saw that catalogue yesterday my first feeling is the wheel will break very easier especially during inside the airport because they will not handle it nicely as you do.

    • I reckon it a fair comment, wonder why all the negs?

      • +1

Because its basis is exactly nothing, so what's the point? "I think it'll be bad from looking at a crappy pic in a catalog." Hardly an informed opinion.

    • +4

The wheels retract into the body on takeoff.

      • OK that would be better.

  • +3

That is one powerfully ugly suitcase.
I wonder if the design was so ugly on purpose, hence the low price as the manufacturer desperately tries to off-load stock, or if the ugly design was on purpose, to make it worth paying more for the less-ugly more expensive models?

    • +4

May be they made it ugly so that no more will steal it.

Looks like a samsonite cosmolite wannabe.

    • +2

External design provides a balance of strength with lighter materials for shell - Similar to Samsonite Cosmolite and Anter Liquis. This is much cheaper than equivalent ones eg. http://www.luggagedirect.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=Ando…
Main thing is the shell needs to be flexible (ie, bounce back from impact) rather than rigid and prone to crack

Funny how it say hurry limited stock, but wont be available until 7th

  • The most important parameter which is not mentioned in the specification. i.e. weight.

    • weight is ok…i dont have the exact spec…but feel about the same as all big brand ones…

  • +2

bought one last year…they are okay..
It is lightweight as it says, but compare to the big brand Antler or samsonites, this one does feel a bit SOFTER on the shell. Used it once, and the careless airport people put a massive black rubber mark as they chuck it on to the rotating belt.

    Wheels …i find no problem.
But those 4 "stand rubber" when u put tilt on one side….one of them fell off already…and didn't notice until using it the 3rd time.

Not absolute rubbish, but for that price, yeah, why not (if u dont travel every week or month)

  • If i cut a rectangle out of it and mounted it on my arm, do you think it woukd be safe for me to go out and buy milk during the next g20 summit?

    • +2

At least you will be sure your milk is safe by not modifying the case and put the milk in.

    • yeah…for sure!
      people will think u are a nerd….and keep a distance away from u!! YEP, U R SAFE

  • Personally I don't like the 4 wheel cases (not this one specifically) as they a) tend to roll away on a slight incline & b) not as easy to roll over thick carpet or rubber surfaces. I recently used one for an OS trip and don't think I'll use it again.

I do use my luggage scales a lot (paid $30), so these ones for $9.99 look like great value http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_24163.htm

Wife has already circled it on our Aldi catalogue — queue for it on Wednesday.

  • +1

LOL at the design massively ripping off the super premium Cosmolite range. It's like when LED driving lights first came out on the high end Audi/Mercs etc. and then you started seeing morons attaching them to their suzuki swifts etc…. lolololololololol

  • Anyone know what size these are (both the carry on and larger case)?

    • yeh exact dimensions would be very helpful
