Seems like a good price on these OLED 77" TVs, only been cheaper once on the B3 from what I can see.

waiting for G3 price drop sooooon…

  • +3

I've been worried there won't be another price drop on LG C3 77". The fear got to me yesterday and I got HN to price match this and picked up their last unit.

  • Is that the cheapest ever for the 77 c3?

    • +1

There was this crazy deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/821954 but its a bit of an outlier so I think this is second ATL?

    • There have been cheaper deals when factoring in the discounted gift cards also, though requires you having got them in advance

  • Good price on the B3. Most people will be hard pressed to even notice a difference with the C3. HDR peak brightness is surprisingly mediocre on both models.

    • +3

Agree with the first part of your comment, but not the second. Both models are fine for everything, comparing rtings scores is often meaningless in real life.

      • Yeah, fair point. I went from a S95B to a A80J and it wasn’t all that bad.

  • S90c over the c3/b3 any day. Brightness and Colour luminance is significantly greater, very noticeable, along with better bt.2020 colour space.
Before anyone says anything about DV, tests have shown footage is dimmer when playing DV or HDR10+ content, Hdr10 is fine.
    Keen to see replies.

    • Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. The S90C is better than both models IMO. I guess some people think DV is the be all and end all. The G3 on the other hand, well that’s a completely different beast.

IPS/VA panels have become dirt cheap over the past few years, but it feels like OLED still has a long way to go.

  • How is people's experience with Appliance Central?

    • +1

Have bought a couple of items from them. They are great.

Ordered a TV from them recently. They sent it from NSW to WA. I'm in SA. They then wanted to send the same TV from WA back to me in SA. I said can't you just send me another unit, I don't really want a TV that's travelled 4,500km by road due to potential for damage, including internal damage that's not immediately obvious, and by now it was well outside agreed upon delivery timeframe.

I ended up having to go to Consumer Business Services and threatening a claim at small claims to get my money back. At first they wanted to hit me with a 20% restocking fee. In the end they only refunded me the full amount once the TV arrived back at their depot in NSW and I had to chase them every step of the way. Poor communication and a seeming general disdain for their customer.

I'd check out some of their reviews on Product Review before proceeding. Wish I had before ordering.

In the end I ended up using their price to get price matched at JB. Had the TV delivered a day later without issue.

I'm from SA and waiting to get the C3 65 for a bit less but not going to be buying from Appliance Central like I thought I would if that's your shipping experience. Thanks for sharing and glad you got the TV in the end!

Your TV that was made in Indonesia from parts sourced globally, and then made it's way into a container before being craned onto a boat and sent to Australia, where the container was again unloaded (by hand) and unpacked at a warehouse before it was sent to JB-HiFi (likely by road) is definitely going to last much longer than the same TV that spent an extra day or two on the road.

If a courier company manages to send a TV to WA rather than SA, when the suburb in question does not exist in WA, then on the return leg mislabels the address again, this raises questions about their competence. It also implies their staff may not be doing the best job they can in handling other people's goods. Also, when the container was unloaded and unpacked at the warehouse before being sent to JB, would you say the TV went from NSW, to WA to SA by road, or an equivalent distance? That's what I thought.

          Thank you for your contribution.

        • My thoughts exactly. Imagine worrying that your TV is going to spend extra time on the road considering where it’s come from. In addition to this, having the nerve to attack the retailer and threaten ACL when they have offered you a remedy. The entitlement of some people.

          • -2

@[Deactivated]: Incorrect, they wanted to take a 20% restocking fee even though the TV was outside the quoted delivery timeframe and had been sent from NSW to WA. Nowhere at the point of sale did it say it was going from NSW to WA then to SA. This is a breach of contract and Consumer Business Services agreed with me.

Taking 20% of your money for their error is hardly a "remedy".

            • @TheHocus: That’s because you refused to accept the TV though, right? So they treated it as a change of mind. Sure, they should have compensated you some way for the inconvenience to make up for their mistake as it’s good customer service but it doesn’t sound like they did.

              • -2

@[Deactivated]: They can treat it however they want, they still need to comply with ACL, as I was advised by CBS. The quote from them was "as you did not contract the courier company and the error was not your fault, you should not be held financially liable for their mistake". Hence why they backed down on the 20% restocking fee.

Why do you feel the need to defend the interests of a company you claim to not represent, in a situation that did not involve you, with details you are ignorant about? Do you have a commercial relationship with this company, or is it just that involving yourself in this way makes you feel important?

Have fun with your imaginary Internet points.

                • @TheHocus: I’ve been in this situation before and didn’t feel the need to cry about it on the internet I suppose? I’m not the one repeating the same story in every Appliance Central deal. Move on with your life, these things happen and no retailer is perfect.

Edit: Why am I defending the retailer? Because I used to work for one and know exactly what it’s like to be in their shoes.

I understand this is not a review forum however can anyone comment from experience on OLED vs Miniled TVs and the end user benefits of both apart from price???

    • +4

OLED costs a lot more, is a lot more better. Significantly. Whether that matters or not is up to you

      • +5

Mini LED has the added layer of having to understand how many local dimming zones there are in order to determine whether or not it's actually going to be any good, or have comparable blacks depending how big the screen is and how far away from it you are. Blah blah blah research research… Just go OLED. ;)

    • I went through this thought cycle of confusion and ended up getting an OLED last black friday.

Do you want the absolute best panel in the Market? If yes then, that's OLED.
      Is it worth it? No.

Why so, because there simply isn't enough 4k HDR content to make it worthwhile.

Most of the time you're going to be steaming hd content from Netflix or YouTube if you're like me.

      • "Is it worth it" Yes (for me) :)
There most definitely is enough 4k content to make it worthwhile - the question is just whether you want to invest in it. I'm talking buying 4k UHDs (physical media) - the quality is honestly amazing. But it is in steep decline in Australia so who knows for how much longer it will be viable.

      • Why so, because there simply isn't enough 4k HDR content to make it worthwhile.

C’mon, seriously? What a crazy comment to make.

    • +5

If you are watching the TV in a dark room, buy an OLED. If the room is quite bright, with open windows etc, buy the Mini LED. OLEDs a have perfect black level, so a dark room will help with the contrast. Mini LEDs are much brighter and will handle a well lit room much better at the sacrifice of not having perfect blacks. Different models from the same manufacturer will vary in quality adding to the confusion.

Videopro doing $5750 for the C3 83" for me. (Yeah I know it doesnt have the MLA tech)

  • Damn son!!

  • +1

I got JB to price match the 83" C3 at Appliance Central last week for $6080.
JB had it listed at $6995, now $6495.

It has since dropped in price at least 3 - 4 times at Appliance Central, and is now at $5680 - $400 cheaper.

I bought it because you don't know when stock runs out and I was happy with the price at the time.. happy that I did but a little dirty on the price drops since then.

That’s why they say if you wait for the best deal, you miss out. Purchase when you can afford and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

  • Should I get the C1 second hand from marketplace? Seems good value, the CPU is weaker, that is all

  • Got the 65 G3 for $2880 during BD, best decision ever.
