    • Got 75* P735 for $716.40 Jun last year, a bit slow but fine watching sports.

      • Hey mate so this is a good TV for watching AFL? Wondering how the motion is as that's what I'm mainly interested in purchasing one for

  • 85 inch 120hz noice

    • +6

      Only at 1080p

  • Anyone know if these are any good ?

    • +13

Got one last year with the leading edge deal.
Decent picture quality, but we've never had an oled or mini led so we don't know what we might be missing.
Use with 4k chromecast and xbsx - both good.
Google TV included with the TV is way too slow for use - due to old chipset I believe.
Only 1 hdmi 2.1 port and it is the Arc.
Have had about 3-4 random resets on the unit since Dec. But since don't use the TV's Google TV, only minor inconvenience.

Tldr, good value for us but we aren't super picky about picture quality

      • +5

Same, got it with leading edge, and I use it with a Chromecast 4k to avoid the slower software. Haven't had had any issues or random restarts.

Every one of family and friends who has seen it now also want a 85 inch tv lol

  • How will this fit in my car?

    • +1

It'll fit on the roof with some bungee cord

      • +7

Broden can just use their right arm to hold it to the roof while they drive

    • Put it on the roof. It will fit :)

    • +1
    • +13

wait for a deal on a bigger car

    • All these big LED needs to be vertically delivered, so paid delivery for most. You can risk it without warranty.

    • +1

Figure it out later, just make sure you buy enough so you can resell them for a profit.

  • +1

Is the C745 much better, can get it for 1550 good guys

    • 85?

      • The 75 inch is $1519 in the commercial portal

    • +2

C745 is full array local dimming backlit, and QLED.

Yes, it will be much better picture across the board.

      • I can only see $1,985 for the C745 85" using PB on TGG.

    • How can you get it 1550 ??

    • +1

C745 beats the P745 by absolute miles. C series is higher end QLED tv with way more features, P series is the low end range with a low quality panel.

      • But the price is almost doubled.

        • Not quite. It's a $720 difference. P745 vs C745 85" models.

          $1985 - $1265 (price beat prices) = $720 difference.

However if you want a QLED panel with all the higher end features you've got to pay for it. QLED is night and day offers better picture quality compared to this bog standard low end LED panel.

        • It's an 85 inch TV. If you want features and to pay less, you're better off dropping down to a smaller, but still massive TV rather than just getting the cheapest big TV. If you're happy with just the large size and happy to live with it being slow and the refresh rate being a little low, the postee deal is fine.

  • +1

Hopped on TGG chat and managed to get it for $1200 picked up from their DC.

    • $1015 in the commercial portal so they’re still making money
Edit sorry that’s the 75 inch. 85 is $1440 so more

    • +1

Wow. How did you negotiate to that price?

    • What did you say to get them to budge further?

      • I initially went on the chat to ask to pick up from their DC as it was the only place in my area with stock. Their website only allowed delivery from the DC.

When I went to ask the rep said if I pick up from the DC (funnily enough the DC is closer than TGG store for me), they said $1200 pick up.

  • -4

what the resolution that at? 1080? gtfo

  • P series is their low end TV range with few features. It's the C series which is the better one with a QLED screen and local dimming. But yeah unfortunately it does cost quite a bit more. $1985 with price beat.

  • p series for bedroom only xoxo

    • +1

Yes as i said P series is the low end series. C series is the better series with better picture quality with the QLED screen and local dimming. But how would you even fit an 85" TV in a standard sized bedroom?. That would be totally crazy.

      • Yeah i know, i was thinking maybe a back garage / man cave for a cheap big tv

    • What happens in bedroom?

      • They aren't watching tv

  • +1

I guess the TV might be alright if you don't expect much. Just it's a standard LED panel with no local dimming and might have a low contrast ratio. P series is the TCL rock bottom low end range.

  • -2

Pulled the pin on it >< mainly got it for my dad to watch soccer $1330 delivered

    • +1

I guess a dad with perhaps some eye sight issues might have troubles telling the difference between this low end TV with a higher end TV with say a QLED panel.

      • -1

Haha true.. i cancelled it everyone said its lowest model etc haha.. im not dropping 1.3k on a tv and it not being top end lol.. thanks everyone that said its not that good

        • +7

did you expect an 85" tv to be top end at $1.3k? even 55" top of the line tvs are way more than that

          • @s1Lence: okay forget the high end low end range etc, idk what im talking about with that… basically im waiting for 120hz native tv, 75-85inch, mini led or full array.. for around 1.3k.. because i wouldn't mind gaming on the tv also sometimes.. and i don't like the sound of 60hz tv with 120hz dlg or whatever, that dlg technology sounds dodgy.
but yea i agree this is a good deal for 85" tv.. but it doesn't meet the specs i want.. so im not buying it for myself.

  • This uses significantly less electricity than the c845, so its a good option for those that don't mind compromising picture quality

    • +3

Yeah because it has a lower contrast ratio which means less electricity being used to light up the duller backlight lights.

  • 85" P745 4K

isn't this is too large for even 4K ? still most of the content being 1080p, can't you still see pixels at this ?
I would say 32" is good for 1080p, so I think 55" would be good for 4K

how is the upscaler in these TVs, are they good as on Sony's ?

    • depends on the viewing distance, 32" 1080p can be too big or small as well depends on how close you are to it

      • Yep, we find 4k on the 85" p745 to be good, sofa is about 2.5-3m back.
Any closer and have to turn head to see edges of screen, so no good even if res was ok

    • +1

Sony has best image processing algorithms

  • +3

Bought the 55" p745 for $540 through JB hifi Inc 6m kayo for free (saved me another $210 at $35 a month).

Pleasantly surprised with the quaility for the price but was only replacing a 5-6 year old hisense for comparison (high end model a the time).

In saying that I would not go this model as a main tv at larger sizes. I would go c745 or even c845 if you can swing it. Maybe the higher level hisense or Sony if you can swing it.

Only real disappointment for me personally is the higher refresh rate gaming mode doesn't work at 4k resolution and drops it down - and it looks terrible so have to just settle with 60hz.

I think the poorer picture at this size from a 3m+ viewing distance is perfectly fine but would become noticeable as you go up unless you are going further back (which if you can do with these housing prices then you can probably afford the mid range models at least).

Also note - anything edge lit is going to get much worse black levels as you increase size as light has to be brighter to travel across the larger screen. From what I have heard the difference from 75" to 85" becomes really obviously so would be worth checking out in person first (hard with store lighting but doable).

    • -4

yea i cancelled my order.. im not dropping $1330 inc delivery on 85 inch tv and it not be top range/good quality hehe

      • +5

Lol you're delusional. You're getting both ends of the spectrum wrong.

        A top end 85" is 5k+.

In fact at 1.3k you're basically looking at the lowest end for a 85"

        • -1

well atleast mid range.. im waiting for sale.. so i can be patient.. basically all i want is atleast 120hz native, 75-85inch, mini led or full array.. for around 1.3k

          • +3

@JURBA: think smaller like 65"-75", even that's pushing it. you can be patient until 2026

    • +1

For this the screen size doesn't matter apart from the larger pixel size. Fortunately the 85P745 model is backlit so it shouldn't suffer from the same issue as an edge lit tv. It should have the same light level across the screen.

  • +1

Now if only the top of the line best of the best TVs in this size range were only 3x more. Instead of 5x or more

  • Will this be a good upgrade from a 12 yo 60 inch Samsung plasma? I know there's much better technology out there but I'm no too fussed for day to day viewing.

    • +1

Well you're comparing an old 1080p to a 2160p tv. It's probably better as it's 4K and also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. Your old plasma TV doesn't support HDR. TV screen tech has come a long way in the past 12 years.

      • We upgraded from a 12 yr old 60inch sony and found it to be a good upgrade. As long as you aren't relying on its Google TV functionality - need a 4k chromecast if you get this model.

        • +1

I got myself a Hubbl for my 4K TV.

          • @hollykryten: How do you find it?

            • +1

@wataripoff: It's not too bad. Hubble Hub supports Dolby Vision, HDR 10 and HLG. Works great with my TCL C645 43" 4K TV as it supports all of those 3 HDR standards. It's good because the Hubbl picks up HLG on some Youtube videos which boosts the contrast ratio and colours. HLG is one of the 3 competing HDR standards.

This is the specs for the Hubble Hub. It has a Quad Core CPU and 4GB DDR4 RAM.

              https://help.hubbl.com.au/s/article/Hubbl-Specifications

I actually got the Hubble Hub from JB for $89 using a Perks $10 coupon discount code. So i can't complain. It has a really good remote control.

And it looks like this TCL 85" P745 from this deal lacks inbuilt HLG HDR decoding so it misses out in some good HDR content in Youtube. The P series is the low end which lacks some good features. For example it can't decode HLG HDR. Only the C series supports inbuilt HLG HDR decoding.

cheap, too cheap to be true

r they selling for a loss? chinese companies are known to be loss selling to win market share. or is it just very low quality?

many small items on ebay from chinese sellers are very blatantly loss making when the delivery fee is included.

    • One theory is soft domestic demand for these goods due to the weaker economy relative to past years plus access to credit has led to price dumping of surplus EVs, TVs, etc globally.

One of the retailers I spoke to advised Sony especially are having a tough time competing with their X line of TVs, hence move further upmarket for better margins.

      • But most prices are up significantly from last year

  • Are JB price matching this?

    • Can't see why not. JB owns good guys

  • This or C745 ( QLED )

Managed to get price of $1400 for 75 " C745.

    Kindly Suggest !

    • $1400 for C845

      • Hard to find any in stock now, most prices are also $1596 and above

      • How

        • Price match this if you see any stock elsewhere

    • I saw appliances online had it for that price yesterday but not today :(

  • My experience with HDR in TCL P8M has been awful so far.

    Is this series any better?

  • has the 98 inch ever been posted? now that is a proper size tv

    • +1

      Nah 2 inches too small

      • you like 100"? cmon you wont feel the difference

        • Maybe not, but it's all about the bragging rights

  • Absolute bargain if all you’re after is a capable TV for your living room. 5000:1 Contrast Ratio, Direct-LED, VA panel, 450nits full field. Great price. If it had a centre stand I would have purchased one. Good find OP.

  • I price beat yesterday for $1250 pickup. The online staff gave me the price of $1980 for 85” C745 but I still went ahead with P745 and save some more to get C845 or a future C855

  • Thanks for the credit - currently sitting on the couch waiting for the delivery!
Props to those using GG chat to get it cheaper.

    • Did you get the TV. How do you find it?.
