Brother Laser Toner

Hi, I bought a Brother MFC-L2713 mono laser printer and the original toner lasted me a while but now I’m getting prompts the toner is low.

Since I don’t print often, I would like a good quality toner at hand which is compatible with my printer.

Are you able to recommend some options as original branded toner is expensive.

I have the same printer and I bought these from InkStation and they are fine. Haven't had any issues so far.

Get them from Aussie Toner or yyuda on eBay. Cheaper and free delivery. I've never had a problem over dozens of toners. I even got a cheap replacement drum from them when it was time.

Also, you've got a lot of toner left. Go into the menu and turn off the setting which stops the printer printing when it is "empty". You'll get a few hundred pages more out of it easily. You will see when it is time to change the toner.

Finally, turn off automatic firmware updates and never manually update your firmware. The updates don't save the world from botnet oblivion or magically upgrade the DPI to UltraRetina. They are only there to brick your printer for not using genuine toner.

      • Are those places good for the larger brother colour multifunction laser printer too?

        • Yes, had no problems with eBay toner on my Brother laser. It's not like a colour laser is amazingly accurate for photos anyway

      • Good advice.

Can also recommend yyuda on eBay

I can’t find this option on my printer. Which option is this?

      • Daabido is 100% correct.

I reset the printer count and the "empty" toner is merrily printing away since more than a hundred pages.

        yep… yyuda

Dont throw the old toner. The chip on the old one might come handy

    They're $16 delivered on eBay.

  • Damn. I pressed the gun too early and ordered it though ink station.

Inkstation toners are high quality. It is hit or miss if you buy from ebay. I got a set of AussieToners which was blocked after an accidental firmware update. My Inkstation set still worked even after the update.

      • Yeah, i've been purchasing generics through inkstation for years. Not once had an issue.

  • Guys I need help to turn off auto firmware update on my printer. I spent online searching and played with printer settings. I can’t find the settings to turn that darn thing off.
