This is the best game I have played in years.

Might need to buy a second game then

Yeah, this and botw are so overrated. These will age poorly imo. Will be the reverse of Wind Waker.

Classic Paintoad response. Two critically acclaimed games with over 50 million units sold. Think what you want - these are classics.

@Hinee: A quick Google of "breath of the wild overrated" will reveal I'm not the only one who feels this way and this opinion seems to be becoming more popular as time goes on.

If it didn't have Zelda in its title, the reviews wouldn't have been as kind. It's just a very average open world game.

        • The issues for me (based on botw):
          1. For such a long game, there really is barely any story. I know link was created as a silent protagonist, but that doesn't suit extremely long games. It's maddening.
          2. Durability sucks.. I remember taking on a goblin first thing and breaking two weapons without even killing him (they were bone arms or some easily broken rubbish). That's an untenable early game. It could have been fixed with a bigger inventory but you need an incredibly painful number of korok seeds for that, so it doesn't work. Or you race for the master sword which is basically a cheat to fix bad game design. They needed to get away from durability and make the combat tighter (not souls like but more in that direction).
          3. Puzzle rooms were overall meh.

I get that people forgive not having a story but I just can't given the meh combat and so-so puzzle rooms because this means the exploration doesn't compensate for these shortfalls. The allure of discovering a new area isn't sufficient or long lasting enough in a game of this length.

Linear with tight puzzles based on areas that open up as you get a quest item or new weapon actually suits Zelda really well, ie. The N64 days. They lost what was good about Zelda by following the "me too" open world club.

If they had an option to turn off durability and farming ingredients I think I'd find it pleasant enough to play through given the more reasonable time frame to complete it would change my expectations

@justtoreply: I agree it's no Ocarina of Time.

My other gripe with BOTW was the music (or lack thereof) sucked so bad!! OOT had catchy music that would be stuck in your head for hours - botw has some lame piano nonsense in the background c'mon!

this game, maybe. botw, no way at all is it overrated.

    • Would be even better on a console that isn’t holding it back severely. Neg away.

Not going to disagree with that! I'd love to imagine a world where a new turbocharged Nintendo console comes out with backwards compatibility to show this game for what it truly could be.

      • ngl though, they've managed to squeeze a hell of a lot out of a 9 year old GPU

        • If only PC ports could do the same.

    ATL?

So good, I'm still hunting for koroks :P

  • cheers

I’m still playing this since release (although I don’t get much time each week). Such a great game with so much content

  • Sold out :(

    Price changed to $84.8 :(

  • Damn too slow

  • ebay prices are around this price or less at the moment. Seeing as these games aren't sealed when new and there's no manual or extras included anyway - not much to lose.
