Slightly cheaper with this URL - US $31.25 (~A$47.72)

Translucent White went OOS at checkout; only Translucent Purple left (Black wasn't available at time of post).

    • Curious, is there a way to search for those types of URLs apart from going to your superdeals in the app?

      • +1

I usually just check random numbers around 560 using ?sourceType=xxx at the end of the url.

        • +1

This deal at around $60 gets the "Kangal Approval". And at around $45 it's a no brainer.

Remember these are pocketable devices, they're meant to be grabbed with your phone/wallet/keys and slide into your jeans as you're hopping outside. Plays pretty well in an Uber, Bus, Tram, or Train.

Anything that doesn't fit into that description, will require you to bring a bag. Wether it's a small bag or a big bag doesn't matter as much, since now you are custodian of something. And if you happen to need to bring a bag let's say for the Anbernic RG-556, then why wouldn't you bring your other device instead. Such as the cheap AYN Odin2, affordable Valve SteamDeck, good value SteamDeck OLED, high quality ASUS ROG Ally, or the premium GPD Win-Max-3. Or if you're into hacked consoles, any variants of the NSwitch.

For pocketables, think of Nintendo new3DS, Sony PS Vita Slim, Retroid Pocket 4P, or the Anbernic RG-353M.

    • Bought black 192g just now 36.5usd inc GST.

    • Briefly able to add aud 44 dollars in the kart. But took too long to check out and sold out quick

  • ugh so tempted.. but I didn't use my RG350 much at all! can't think of any additional games i wanna play

  • So. Cheap. But. Can't. Justify. Two!

And the Plus model just went up by ~$10.

    • +1

Got to collect all the colours.

      • Knowing me, I'll end up paying full price for the third colour.

  • only purple

  • Is it preloaded with games?

    • +6

      Taps nose.

    • +5

HEY DOES THIS THING COME WITH THE ILLLEGAL STUFF?? ANYONE?

      haha

  • Is the OS, or (Garlic OS) fully functional Linux? Can you SSH into it for example?

    • Rg35xx h doesn't have garlic atm

      Best cfw is batocera atm

      • +4

GarlicOS 2.0.1 is supported, but basically in Alpha/Testing stages.

        • Ohhh shiet thanks haven't been up to date this week. Will try it out tonight

          • @Jaduqimon: Batocera might still be the better option, since GarlicOS is still in Alpha and not fully supported yet.

            • @RichardL: haha yeh just gona check it out. all it costs me is just another SDcard hehe

    • +3

Latest firmware just came out a week ago.

      https://win.anbernic.com/download/360.html

Works fine IMO. Basic. Clean. Simple.

    • +5

I really recommend muOS over something like Batocera, especially if speed is something you're after, or if the Batocera UI isn't your cup of tea. Batocera can take some time to boot, but muOS is blazingly fast. So many other things too, I can't even begin to express how impressed I've been with muOS. To top it off, the dev is Aussie, super active and helpful, and takes on all ideas.

v10 is currently out, with v11 available for testers. Full release of v11 (it's an absolutely massive update) will hopefully be by the end of April. Disclosure: i am one of those testers, and have also been working on a theme maker for the CFW.

https://muos.dev/ is the homepage, https://muos.dev/help/installation for a guide on installing and if you feel inclined to jump across into the Discord, give me a ping!

      • +2

        jupy is 100% on this.
Get muOS on your devices people!

      • +1

Cool I'm going to do this as was on fence with batocera.

I'd really like to see wifi OTA become the norm for these cfw/os rather than flashing sd card each time.

        • +1

muOS will have OTA eventually for minor releases, but due to how some files are flashed, major updates may always require a full flash using a PC. While not strictly "OTA through settings", I have tested using wget with incremental updates and it's been great :)

      • Thanks for this post. muOS is defninetly better than Batocera.

        One question though:

Why are the "analogue sticks" not analogue? They just seem to function like the DPad. Is this a software or a hardware issue?

        • +1

i honestly have no idea, and dont have a H myself sadly! hop in the discord and pose your question and im sure someone will give you a better answer than i could!

  • +1

Sweet thanks, had this in my cart 2 days ago for $90 but didn't commit.

Normally it's the other way around 🤣

  • Couldn't check out unfortunately !

  • Bugger gone. I wanted one for nephew

  • +1

I quickly grabbed one for $62 (different seller) without realising it's not really much of an upgrade over the R36s, so cancelled.

    • +7

specwise its worse but the form factor is the diference. some people prefer horizontal. this also has wifi and BT.

      • +1

No spec wise it's better as well.r36s doesn't play as many 64 games this struggles but plays better than the r36s

    • Oh really?
Might cancel mine. Not too fused with bt and wifi for the moment.

      • yes if you have the r36 and is happy with the form factor and not fussed about wifi and BT then cancel the order. this is a sidegrade.

        • They posted so fast didn't even get to cancel. Damn.

  • What is the most powerful game you can properly play on this?

  • i have a rgb35xx, plays ps1 fine and was used for gbc.

but im curious this screen would only really good for gba, since ps1 isnt wide screen

edit: also I did buy one :) worth checking out

    • +2

this isnt wide screen. its the same screen ratio as rg35xx.

      • ah, just rotated gamepad

  • I feel jealous that I bought it for $80 just a few weeks ago 😅 Nonetheless, I am loving and enjoying it so much.

    Thanks OP.

    • +1

      so did I :-(

      • It happens! Prices can fluctuate, but we're still enjoying our new console.

  • I just recently sold a psvita. Kinda regretting it now.

  • let me know when I can get the RG556 for under $150

  • Any other place says ooo?

  • +1

Mine was just delivered at 7pm.

  • Do you have to change out the sdcard on these?

    • Yes, it's always recommend to replace the cheap MicroSD with a reputable brand card (such as SanDisk or Samsung).

      • I think it maybe a myth. The cheap ones are just slow in transfer speed. I had like 7 handheld all using the ones they came with. I think if you have the CFW, it's alright cuz they have safe shutdown.

I think it's the stock firmware that doesn't have the safe shutdown feature and if you didn't exit game before shutting down there's a high chance the sdcard will corrupt.

Of course the cheap ones would be less reliable but not to the point that everyone thinks the failure is imminent.

        • 64GB/128GB MicroSD cards are relatively cheap (<$20) and you don't have to worry about future corruption and/or loss of saves files.

      • Any guides? or is it simply ctrl c + ctrl v into a new card

        • If you're fine with the StockOS then you can just copy/clone the SD Card (make sure the new SD card is formatted to FAT32).

          • @RichardL: i dont find save states transfer with stock os which is a bit annoying

            • @maverickjohn: Even when you clone the sd?

              • @Jaduqimon: As in convert to iso and then install iso on SD?
Didn't try that but when I normally upgrade firmware I lose my content. A little frustrating. Hence why I'm trying out custom fw

  • So disappointed… had missed delivery from courier company and was working from home the next day… they skipped to following day while I was out and "no safe place to leave, we're returning it to the sender"… No previous warning they only make 2 attempts and there's no pickup option :(

Seller won't send it back again either, only provide refund.

    • I thought aus post delivers it these days

      • Some other company did.
