ATL I reckon. Also available at bunch of other retailers.

Didn't want to deal with flickering issues with Apple silicon flickering with Dell monitor issue (happens to my M1 Pro with Dell S2721QS), so decided to get this LG instead. It does have an external power adaptor compared to Dell/Lenovo which are usually built-in.

Picked one up today. Screen is brilliant and bright, great for WFH.

    60Hz, this good for gaming?

      Depends on the sorts of games you’re playing. If you’re into super quick games that need fast responses (e.g. Counter-Strike and the like), you’re probably better off with a 120hz+ panel. 4K is also pretty demanding, so if you haven’t got a great GPU, it might not be worth it.

      As someone who switched to this screen from a 1440p 144hz panel (was sick of how ugly my Mac’s UI looked at the lower res) and hardly ever turns his gaming desktop on anymore, the times I have used it to play a game, it’s been totally fine :)

      • What model Mac were you using on the 1440p 144hz panel?

        • M1 2020 - it’s more just that the macOS UI is built for high res screens now and doesn’t look good anymore on anything of a lower pixel density

        • I’ve also just realised that I ended up buying a Dell screen and not this one… ignore my recommendation hahahahahah

          • @Gabrieltn: I've got an M1 MacBook Air and was looking for a decent 27-34" monitor, would you recommend a 4K monitor as the best option?

  • I have both this and the Dell equivalent. The LG is slightly better in black levels and basic gaming functions (for 60hz / console gaming). Both are fantastic for design and productivity.

  • For anybody dealing with the ghosting or flicker on Apple silicon, comment #770 mentions StillColor. I’ve tried it and it has helped so far, other comments suggest it helps too.

    This LG model is mentioned in the thread further up too as one that doesn’t have flicker problem, but installing that app is a cheaper alternative to try if you’ve already got a flickering monitor.

      Also before I found the thread update yesterday I contacted Dell and they put up no fight, immediately offered me a replacement monitor when I described the problem. It should be arriving soon. Fingers crossed it fixes it, but otherwise hoping the StillColor app fixes it anyway.

    Hi OP. This might help with the issue.

    Dell S2722QC Flickering Issue Fix

    To get 4K/60Hz with USB-C:

    1. Go into the monitor’s OSD. [All settings should be at Factory Defaults.]
    2. “Display” -> “USB-C Prioritization”
    3. Change to “High Resolution”. [This setting increases the bandwidth used for video at the cost of reducing USB data speeds.]
    4. “Display” -> “Smart HDR”
    5. Make sure it’s set to “Off”. [When it’s set to on, the refresh rate on your monitor will fluctuate and be variable.]

    Change the refresh rate from Variable to 60Hz on MacBook

    • I highly recommend BetterDisplay for macOS 👍

  • Is this a good enough gamut for lightroom or is there a better option at this price?

    • Has a 95% DCI-P3 gamut which is quite decent for media consumption. Not so great if you work with AdobeRGB though

    • It depends on your colour space and how much you want to cover. It's claimed to have 95% Adobe RGB coverage.sRGB is probably fine if you're just editing photos for the web or to print at Camera House or HN, but you might want a bit more if you're getting fine printing done.

      • 95% of DCI-P3, about 87% AdobeRGB

    Lucky Goldstar make a good monitor?

    • Purely anecdotal but I bought an LG monitor a couple of years ago and it had significant flickering issues out of the box. Bought a Dell instead.

      • I'm using the LG 32UP550N (the 32" version) and it's been good so far. I've been using the Dell S2722QC previously for a year and I haven't had any issues either (workaround applied of course).

  • Really tempted to get this one as I've heard good things about this monitor. The 14-inch screen of my mac just doesn't cut it for long hour sessions. How is the stand for this? Do I need to buy a monitor arm? My desk is too thick to mount one sadly.

  • 60Hz needs to stop being a thing.

    I was anti high refresh rate once in the past, but now i can tell in just a moment if a monitor has a poor refresh just from the way the mouse cursor moces across the screen at anything more than a moderate speed.

    I totally agree one could get by with 60 Hz, but it's 2024 and many other 'office' monitors are already heading to 75, 90 and 120 Hz refresh rates.
    I'd agree 75 and 90 are not massive jumps, but they are improvments in the right direction.

    60Hz is dead.

  • I've been using this monitor for ~1 year, highly recommend. Don't buy the Dell one!

  • I can't decide between this and the Samsung 32 Inch M70B UHD 4K Smart Monitor. Would be for use as display for M1 Macbook Air for work/study and some very casual gaming. Does anyone have any insight as to which they would go for?
