A hooded 800 fill-power puffer at this price is pretty unheard of. Seems like a good deal.

    • Yeah exactly. The OzBargain popular Macpac only has 600 loft and no hood and it normally goes on sale for ~$99 so this is definitely good bang for buck!

      • But Halo still has more Down filling. Halo has 219g filling for medium size. This one has 140g for medium

That's kinda the point of higher fill power, you need less of it to achieve a similar warmth of lower fill powers making it lighter and more packable. I'd say Halo is still warmer though, but if you're backpacking, I'd much rather this.

    • Is it 800 loft? But the weight is much less. I think the Macpac one is a much better jacket

  • Got the vest. Also a good deal.

    Nice

    • I've been trying to find discounted pantagonia gear, but everything is small or XL. This might be a cheaper alternative. Depending on what the warranty includes.

How is the quality? never heard the shop before.. prob because i am in wa. Comparable to kathmandu?

It's a sportwear (and other stuff) store from France. There's stores worldwide but is quite big in Europe.

I reckon better than Kathmandu and cheaper too.

  • Sucks that you can only click and collect - only available store is Miranda for me which is over an hour drive :/

Also, does anyone know anything about the sizing? I'm normally a medium in the Kathmandu Heli but was considering getting the large in this since there's no medium left.

Hi, I bought a similar jacket to this but lighter (-5C instead of -10C). I'm usually a small-medium and got the small but had to return it. Sizing up for this jacket makes sense imo.

  • sadly only the black color has the discount. The discount doesn't apply to other colors for the men's jacket

Anaconda/Macpac have a combined 100ish stores. Decathlon has over 1700. Hopefully they spread their wings soon and stop knocking off Anaconda & Macpac. 🙏

It's amazing how many people I talk to that have never heard of Decathlon here. I think of it like a sports version of IKEA. Large European company and 90% of their products are their own lines so you don't go to them for big popular brands, you go to them for a very good quality:price ratio

What's a europe? I only know about Australia, America, China and Bali and I shop at myers

They're a pretty big sports store

Decathlon is a French sporting goods retailer. With over 2,080 stores in 56 countries and regions (2023), it is the largest sporting goods retailer in the world.

I bought some winter cycling gloves for $24 and they are the best quality I've ever worn. I ordered online and it was basically a blind buy for not much money - had I known the good quality, I would've bought another pair! $40 is still a good price though!

-11 for having the cheek to have never heard of Decathlon lol, the last time I heard the word Decathlon was when Daley Thompson won a gold medal for it. Everyone here better know who he is or I will neg you for your wilful ignorance.

This seems like a good deal for when you're trekking down, but what about when you're trekking up? What are you supposed to wear then

    • +1

If you're trekking up you're probably expending so much energy that you're warm enough to go without a fleece jacket.

(But honestly a trekking down jacket is a misnomer, who's actually trekking in a down jacket in Australia - it doesn't really get cold enough for that!)

I bought this jacket for hiking, but found its a bit too warm and bulky for hiking in Sydney winter. It's been great for travelling though. It's very warm and light, and looks better on than the Macpac halo. More compressible as well, but the Halo is definitely warmer
