Anyone Still Using an Overseas Netflix Account?

Some people say Netflix will work with an overseas account as long as it's not used out of that country for 30 days, has anyone tried this? Did anyone try just not using the Netflix account for 30 days then using it?

  • You want to always be in a Turkish vpn?

  • Yes, Turkey … never got booted

    • Did you use a vpn? Or what?

    Streamio+real debrid.
    Easy setup and unlimited content.
So over the lot of Netflix, Disney, etc.
Going by your username, even get Zee, Hotstar, stuff.

    • Yeah I hear good things lol yeah zee and hotstar stuff would be appealing, I was more so curious to see if anyone got it working.

      • Hotstar works fine via VPN, just requires an Indian credit/debit card and an Indian mobile number. You need to find a way to get the OTP when asked to confirm from time to time.

    • Streamio+real debrid.

Yeh sab free hai? Ya subscription based?

      • Subscription, $5-$6/month

Is netflix content available on RD? In particular kdramas and series that are in netflix?

      • Don't know what kdramas are mate, but if you want to give me a few names, I'm happy to look them up.

        • Come on bro, dont live under a rock

  • still on my french account - however my family uses it daily in France so maybe that helped.
I use it on my Apple TV and my iPad with no troubles here in Australia.

  • I use my wife's BIL's account who is in the US and also shares it with his family who's in a few other countries.

  • Still sharing with overseas family members. Everyone logs in daily.

Anyone Still Using an Overseas Netflix Account?

Yeah I got booted in the last round of clean ups by Netflix as well. But back up and working again, here is how I did it, YMMV.

I got a 200 TL Turkish gift card (~$10AUD) to cover the first 90 days at the base rate.

Via VPN - I assigned it to my account, and reactivated the account. All worked as expected.

The account was working but geo locked for the first month, so if you do this, just pick the base plan for the first month unless you want to watch via VPN. I was happy to go a month without watching netflix than buggering around with VPN on the TV etc and retraining the household.

After a month, the geolock was removed, all worked as expected from oz. So I then assigned a 500 TL giftcard (~$25AUD worth) via VPN to keep it going for a few months. Not too keen to apply much more than that as netflix won't refund if they cancel your account.

Basically as long as you don't put in an overseas credit card, you'll be ok from what everyone says. I used turgame.com for my vouchers. a 500 TL voucher costs about 532 TL after fees etc, so around $25AUD.

Oh we stopped account sharing when this happened, was a good reason to offload the freeloaders on our account and to reduce the 'risks' of having multiple IPs hitting the account etc.

    Best of luck!

Thanks for your detailed guide. But at the same time wanted the Tur acc to be shareable with my bros whos in a diff household.
I wonder if anyone’s stayed safe while sharing with diff IP?

Turkish Netflix accounts are fully shareable, they haven't cracked down on that yet. So you'll be able to share them.

I just used this as a reason to offload the freeloaders and get them 'ready' for the day that the Turkish Netflix household sharing crackdowns come. Plus if it keeps me under the radar, then even better ;)

Whoops, I should have said ~45 days, not 90!

I still have an Indian Netflix account, without Indian phone number or credit card. However, I did set it up when living in Nepal for 3 months, so it was used solely there for 90 days before coming back to Australia. I imagine eventually it’ll be closed when I have to update the expired credit card, but for now it’s still working and had been open for ~5 years. Also have YouTube and Spotify accounts, same deal. I am unable to open new accounts but these existing still work.

  • Are there any Netflix countries left now that don't need gift cards?

I was recently sharing a Brazil account that was linked to my card, but the account was in my sister's name. We shared it between us and my parents. Last night got the boot saying that my device wasn't recognised as being 'part of the household', so now I'm looking at what options I have in terms of signing up again with an overseas account. It doesn't have to be the cheapest available, but just something that's cheaper than AU.

I will be paying with my Crypto.com card, and I get the Netflix cost rebated in crypto up to a max of USD 13.99 per month (~$21.46 AUD).

I've tried using Tunnelbear with the Brazil server but having all sorts of issues… does Brazil still work (if so maybe I can try another VPN) or any others without having to buy gift cards?

I thought Brazil had booted everyone ages ago, that was according to Brazilian friends who live here & shared with family back there

      • Mine was still chugging along no problems until they turned on their anti-password sharing feature

looks like the days of easy shared accounts / cheaper overseas options are gone, VPN's & GC's for now but suspect Netflix will keep cracking down & closing down loopholes. Stremio is the way to go

          • @Irishness: I set up Stremio with Torrentio & Real Debrid last night but quite a lot of the content shown on the "Featured" and "Popular" screens have no streams available. Also noticed massive buffering issues with anything 4K, even though I'm on gigabit fibre. I can stream 1080p stuff ok, but I'm used to 4K now so anything below it looks terrible. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if there's a better setup that I don't know about.

@bonezAU: what device are you using? when you say "featured" & "popular" which app is populating those categories have you added Cyberflix?

              • @Irishness: PC connected via 2.5Gb ethernet to router and an Android TV connected via ethernet.
Just the default Stremio setup that is populating those categories. I hadn't heard of Cyberflix before, but just tried to set up the add-on in Stremio.

During the setup wizard it asks me to configure the catalogs I want to include by ticking the checkboxes below, but there's nothing listed and the Next button is greyed out.
When I click the help icon it takes me to the plugin's page, which says "Addon status: Offline".

edit: I see in the comments right down the bottom of the page that 2 people reported the same problem 4 days ago

@bonezAU: ok so hardware setup wise there shouldn't be any issues obviously, I'd suggest finding some additional apps to populate content my favourite is Cyberflix but just checked & I see the problem you are having, I use this link for setup https://82d7ae415a21-llama-catalog.baby-beamup.club/ suggest you keep trying. Have a read through the discussions on here & reddit as most people are streaming 4k no issue

                  • @Irishness: Thanks heaps for the info, you've led me to investigate further. I installed Kodi and a couple of add-ons (Shadow is one) and I can stream 4k no issues.

So I'll keep looking around at various guides on reddit etc until I've got a nice setup. May be able to give Netflix the flick completely, will see how this goes!
