  • are these safe? Anyone use this brand?

Let me put it this way: Do you want to purchase chargers from a company that apparently neglected to issue product recalls for a known fire hazard with multiple reported failures and goes completely silent when questioned about it?

    • Maybe I should stop using my powerpod

    • That's no good!
This model seems to be ok per @SmoothCactus testing https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/810291

My point still stands. Zyron is a company that failed to issue product recalls for a known fire hazard with multiple reported failures. Instead, they sneakily reduced their standard 2 year warranty on the aforementioned fire hazard and a few other products because their bottom line is apparently more important than customer safety.

Neglected recall - Nope, awaiting QC feedback to understand whether it's a design failure across all the chargers. We have already stopped selling that charger. Necessary action will be taken according to the QC report. Only 1 reported in the past 6 months and the unit is being examined. There was no design issue reported in the initial assessment of a brand new unit. The burnt unit is being examined.

Multiple reported failures - Only 1 customer has reported the 140W incident to our support so far.

Goes Silent - Nope, we have no answers till we get a QC report.

Sneakily reduces warranty - That's incorrect information. Our warranties are pretty clear. Old powerpod models had 1 year warranty. New Powerpod range currently sold on the website has 2 years warranty. Nothing has been sneakily changed. You can check the printed information on both Old and new powerpod package. We have even replaced old powerpod that failed between 12-15 months although they were out of 12 months warranty.

Note that back in 2022 we had some reported incidents of flawed AU plug adapter for the old Powerpod 100W. We immediately cautioned all 300 consumers and replaced the adapters for each and everyone regardless of whether they faced the issue or not. Similar approach will be followed here too.

Also, we value our customers safety the most and shifting our manufacturing to CE-Link who manufactures for Belkin, Alogic, Spigen and many others. That's where our new Powasforce range comes from.

          • @ibelievesyd: So the Powerpod and Powastone chargers are from the old OEM?

Is there a Powaforce travel charger with interchangeable plugs or any plans to release one?

Note that I bought the Powerpod 100W from the last deal and have been happy with it, I just want to understand which products are made by CE-link and which are the older manufacturer.

@sirsavesabit: Yes, Powerpod and Powastone chargers are from the old OEM and shall be discontinued gradually as we work with one of the most reputed factory. Powaforce GaN 5 100W & 68W are both CE-Link. They use the same Navitas GaNSense chipsets as Anker GanPrime. Yes, there will be a newer Powerpod 140W coming soon from CE-Link too, probably end of May to early June. Our current power banks will also discontinue as we will co-operate with Anker and Energizer factory and those models launching around same time as new 140W.

              • @ibelievesyd: Thank you for the response.

A 100W travel charger from CE-Link with a mix of USB A and C would be awesome too.

Also while I am making requests, if the AU power plug can be rotated so the body doesn't obscure the switch in Australia that would be fantastic.

                • @sirsavesabit: Ahh it would be 4C most likely :( I understand but there are mixed feedback in that aspect. When the plug is at the bottom, the charger is more secured in the socket but blocks the switch in some cases. When the plug is on top, the charger falls off the socket in some cases. I will pass on your feedback to the team.

@ibelievesyd: As I mentioned previously, you guys should be more forthcoming and offer crucial information like these proactively. You literally ghosted me when I asked about product recalls and never said anything about awaiting a QC report until I pushed the issue in this thread.

            • @anonym: There's a lot of sockpuppeting that goes on this forum so we refrain from lengthy topics. We do our part in the background though. I will provide you further information as soon as we have it

    What’s GaN ? Why

  • Have been using this model (Ok its white) as my laptop travel charger for close to two years. No issues, to the point where I have also bought a 100W travel version (also used without problem) over the last 12 months.

Also recommended to some collogues and family and no bad reports at this stage,

  • Prime member here - only getting $7.50 promo voucher, can't use the ZYRON65W…$42.49 still a good price tho'

Edit - $35.00 at Zyron using code DEALOFTHEMONTH
