I have this - it's a beast. It's literally like holding a spotlight in your hand. And it holds its charge for a very long time too.

    • +1

Is that "hold its charge" referring to holding charge when not in use or holds its charge when using it for a long time in one go?
Genuine question 😊 interested in getting one of these to keep at my gate post so i don't fall ass over head when walking up/down the driveway.

      • Also curious, I have a small Sofrin torch and the battery is rubbish.
On first use it lasted a while but after a few charges it has dropped in run time significantly.

        • +2

The included sofirn batteries with my sofirn and wurkkos flashlight were only good in the torch and will not provide proper power in my xtar powerbank. Bought samsung 18650 and 21700 and those worked fine in powerbank.

      • Here's a review and info on runtimes on different settings.

        https://1lumen.com/review/sofirn-q8-pro/#performance

      • +1

holds its charge for ages. weeks
you press the single multifunciton button 3 times and it tells you bal eg full is 4.2V so it does - 4 flashes pause 2 flashes
days later after bit of use it still flashes 4.1V

Mine came with decent 4 x 3000 mAh 18650 batteries. But I saved those and use ebike batteries I harvested - those decent blue LG ones.
Im sure the Sofirn genuine batteries would be even longer lasting

      • My bad, I didn't mean runtime. I literally didn't touch the torch for an entire year and was surprised that there was still juice in the battery. Perhaps we can say the batteries it came with are good.

        • That's fairly standard with reasonable batteries. This week I found a torch in the garage that I've not used for years. Even after sitting in high and low temperatures for that long, it still managed to sear my retinas when I foolishly turned it on when pointing towards me.

          • @banana365: No, the problem is that torches with electronic switches generally have a parasitic draw and can/will discharge the batteries even when not being used.

Mechanical switches don't have that 'problem', so then it's up to the battery quality as to how long they last.

And from what I've experienced, low battery voltage cut off protection only works while the light is turned on. So if it's off… the torch is going to keep draining the battery until it's well and truly dead. And you can no longer safely recharge it.

Hence why it's recommended you unscrew the tail cap of a torch you're not using, or using regularly to break the electric (electronic? electrical!) connection.

Which is where the problem comes from for an enthusiast based product where people research and spend time looking into information about. The general population isn't going to do that when they click on buy now. Generally that sort of thing isn't well noted, if at all. So people don't do it. Then after a few months, the torch fails. And the user blames the torch.

    I don't need this….. I don't need this…. XD

  • +1

Great torch for it's price, you can buy attachments for it.
    Great for fishing and camping.
You can technically attach it to a bike or scooter if your really wanted to.

    • +10

Hahaha can you imagine driving your car with this dhead trucker behind you on high beams and turns out it's a bicycle with this.

  • Hey guys, How is it compared to this one? Shadowhawk 20000 Lumens XHM77.2

    • I can't tell by the comments but the shadow hawk reviews say it's not 20k, they are really well priced.. I want to buy one lol

      • +1

Number of lumens of almost irrelevant

    • I bought this one btw, wanted to spend under 50 and it came to 40

    • +1

The one you linked is powered by 3x AAA batteries or 1x 18650. The q8 has 3x18650 so will be much more powerful and stay bright for longer

      • +5

q8 pro has 4x 18650s included. Bloody good value. Bought another for..er… backup to my backup… 1 is none and… you need at least 5… right?

        • Not according to the product page. It takes 3, and comes with 3. I'd be very happy to be mistaken on this though.

          • @Nukkels: Oops.. sorry bit late on the response. But theres definteily 4 batteries. Bought 2 for work just before the deal was published and both came with 4x 18650's. wonder why it was mislabelled as 3.

    • It's beam is too focus for me. I don't like the gimmicky lcd display. Sofirn is better made with 3 batteries included. It will run longer.

    • +2

They're garbage, but you could grab it from AliExpress for $10.20usd if you're curious.

    • +1

No comparison - Q8 clear winner.

Shadowhawk was trash 8 years ago https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/44zd0l/do_not_b… and are trash today.

I slipped and accidently clicked buy now. Well at least that's what I told my wife.
    Thanks OP.

Your thumb is steady af bro.

    • +2

Yeah, seems to be contagious. Just happened to me too.. Oops

    • +9

Now when it arrives all you need to do is take her out at night, show her how bright it is and then turn it off and say

"Babe, I don't need the torch. You are the light of my life"

If she hates it then flash it in her face and when shes dazed make a run for it

  • According to https://youtu.be/CafeLe8Iqd8 the max
brightness is actually 12000lm on turbo

    • Only for less than a minute

  • +2

I want to point this one out too (also because of the other Sofirn deal from this morning - now OOS.) I ended up buying this one below instead for smaller jobs.

SC18 model @ $25.79 when 40% coupon is applied, equals all time low per CamelCamelCamel
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BFB59X8H/

    • My Q8 pro is too powerful/heavy - I need a small one to take the dog walking/using under the car or in garage

is this SC18 powered by 18650? one with a fridge magnet would be perfect

      • Yep seems to include a single standard 18650 cell

  • +12

I have one, have absolutely no use for it but I just love illuminating the whole street at night when I bring the bins out.

    • +6

I understand. I have the sickness too

    • +4

this is the way. I call my BLF my self defense torch, i'll blind the baddies with turbo mode and after a swift kick in the groin I'd be outta there lickety split

    • +2

I blast the huge tree in my backyard to make sure the cockatoos are in bed

ALso to look for my dog when she goes snooping around at night

  • Review here, although no accessories (pouch, etc) in this deal. The Q8 is a great torch.

    Me when it’s cold outside

  • showing as currently unavaialble?

  • Bugger. I missed out.

  • I want this as an electric scooter headlight but it would blast other road users hahaha. Are there handlebar holders for big fat torches like these? I already own a BLF SP36

  • -2

80 smackeroos and that's a discount for a flashie? Bonkers!

    • +1

This flashlight has real 11,000 lumens though (not just the "Chinese" lumens). It's crazy bright!

    • This is 50 times brighter (11k lumens) than a (new LED version) dolphin torch at 235 lumens. It's also 1/10 the size/weight and the battery lasts 5 times longer. And it's only about twice the price.

To answer your question, higher brightness doesn't come cheap. Except deals like this which are seriously cheap for this level of brightness.

      • Brightness is foreign to @pacificstorm

  • +1

The Q8 Plus and LT1S have 30% discount at check out too.

  • +1

If I didn't own two already (one for house, one shop) this would be a cracker deal.

The best part of these is the always-on green power button, so you can find them in a blackout.

  • Why did I buy this…

  • Wow I've got a Sofirn SC32 at 2000 lumens which is crazy bright. This one must be an absolute monster

  • bought this one in 2022 and second time got for my mom, never regretted , one of the best torch I ever used. battery last forever. dont need to charge again [Depend on the use ] it is amazing, I wasn't expecting that bright. no need to hesitate just buy. i bought for 150$ it was good sale.

  • Got mine today. Four batteries included.
As for LED switch parasitic current draw, my other Q8 goes for months and months with not much capacity lost and that's with regular use on low intensity during night time walks.
    Light output is fantastic.

  • 11,000 lumens is absolutely bonkers.

An average halogen car headlight is about one tenth of this.

Even a fancy HID headlight is still only a quarter of this.

    Damn.

  • I had mine delivered, the max brightness is AMAZING, but it will dim gradually after 15 seconds until reaching really low brightness since it's getting hot really quick.
