Credit to @pchuah, I snagged one after they posted it here.

  • I wish this was available in a charging station style, rather than a wall plug.

  • +1

Great charger for the price, also the form factor is way smaller than some of the other 33/35W

  • Is this better than The anker 511 30w gan charger for $26 on amazon

  • +1

    This one? https://www.amazon.com.au/Charger-Anker-iPhone-Included-Phan…
UGREEN is better in every measure, unless the Anker's 10g weight is miraculously true.
Anker do have a more significant presence and reputation here so that may be a plus.

    • The Anker 511 is also more compact (in addition to however accurate the weight spec is).

      Fwiw, I purchased both.

      • Good to know, wish they listed unit dimensions instead of packaging.

        • +1

Yeah, I had to search around to find the dimensions:
          Anker 511: 28x28x35
          Ugreen Nexode: 35x35x55

Can confirm whether the dimensions are accurate when mine arrive!

I plan to use the Anker as compact charger I can take with me portably / travelling, while the Ugreen just as small chargers I can have around the house (where I'm more likely also to make use of the two ports). Will probably buy more Ugreens to have around the house, but the one Anker should be enough.

@caprimulgus: I was in the same boat. Sure some people will think it doesn't matter at that point but I wanted a unit for carry-on travel.

@flopsy: Misplaced my tape measure, so cant measure right now, but the Anker 511 is legit tiny!
              https://imgur.com/a/Qxhooax

Without measuring, I believe the quoted 28mm x 28mm of the Anker 511 is the main chamber / cylinder, and doesn't include the flared sides on the plug end, which is slightly wider than the Ugreen. The measurements seem accurate to the overall compactness, but technically the width of the 511 is wider because of that flared base (the base of the 511 is within the dimensions of the main body, so doesnt stick put at all).

Using random jewelery scales I had on hand, it was 71g vs 41g (so definitley not the quoted 10g, but somewhat lighter).

Overall, I'm definitely happy with my original plan for 511 as a super pocketable travel charger (really feels tiny!), while Ugreens are great for small chargers around the house.

@caprimulgus: Thanks for posting, that's mega. Big difference if you're packing a laptop case or all-day pack.

  • Not a bad charger but there is something to be aware. I tried this charger and it does have that problem that is also present in a few other brands. That is when you are charging one device on a port and you plug in a new device on the second port, it will stop and start the charging of the first device. I returned this and got the Anker 323 charger and that doesn't have that issue. So might save you a return if you are annoyed by that.

    • +1

That is a "feature" (or annoyance) of GAN technology. All multi-port GAN-based chargers behave in this way (for better or for worse), to my knowledge.

Anker 323 is a regular (non-GAN) charger that is very compact - so a good alternative if you don't want the renegotiation disconnect "feature".

      • That's good to know. I thought it was just some brands being dodgy

    • Can I ask why this matters? Just curious as as long as it restarts wouldn't have though this would be an issue.

      • +4

Would matter for continuously powered devices (ie. without a battery). Especially if it takes forever to restart / loses a connection from being turned off.

One example would be using this in a bedroom for a permanently plugged in baby monitor on the USB-A, while having the USB-C to plug in your phone to charge. Plugging in the phone will reboot the baby camera.

        • Yep that makes sense, didn't even think of it. Cheers!
