ALDI Return - VDE Screwdrivers

I bought some Aldi VDE screwdrivers probably 12-18 months and they’re surprisingly pretty trash. They are wearing out after only a few uses. Would they refund now without a receipt?

Their policy isn’t crystal clear and I’m more interested in real world experience than the policy.

The policy is 3 months for special buy. Not sure if trash quality would be a warranty issue, but if the warranty is past then no.

For warranty issues within date, you can return without a receipt as long as you have a bank statement for them to look up. I returned a kitchen mixer about 3-4 years in as it started spraying everywhere. I was pretty lucky that I wrote an ozb comment about it so I had a good guess as to when I bought it. Not saying this applies to your situation, but just sharing my experience with Aldi warranties

Put them away as spares and buy a better set, i feel all VDE screwdrivers are softer than normal stainless steel screwdrivers but this depends on price and brand and quality.

    • Funny that’s exactly what I had just bought and then started wondering about returning the Aldi ones.

  • You'll probably have to make it a ACL statutory warranty issue

  • Elaborate? I used a set every day at work (electrician) and apart from the printing wearing off they are in very good condition. I've bought 2 more sets since to have around the house as spares

    • used a set every day at work (electrician)

this is probably why. DIYers tend to abuse the hell out of their tools and use them incorrectly so they get wrecked quicker than a pro

  • Crystal clear 90 days with receipt otherwise only if faulty and in the warranty period.

    and they’re surprisingly pretty trash

I've found a lot of Aldi electronic and trade stuff to be pretty trash.

I bought one of their work lights and used it a few times before it blew a resistor and died. It wasn't cheap too.

I'd take the $12 loss and forget about it.

  • It is $12 dude.. I am sure they’ll refund it anyway so you can leave the store quicker.
