South Korea ATM Cash Withdrawal Options 2024

Hi all,

Going to Seoul in May. The last time I was there, I used my trusty Citibank card at 7-11 ATMs in Seoul, which was fee-free and pretty convenient. Now that my Citibank card no longer works, does anyone know what the best options are for withdrawing cash from ATMs in Seoul specifically?

I tried Googling for answers, but it seems like most Google results are just generic answers and/or not specific to South Korea. Help!

Insert card, enter pin, withdraw cash = $$ profit

  • Now that my Citibank card no longer works

What about the NAB replacement that is like for like?

    • When I was there, the ATM in 7-11s specifically said that there was no withdrawal fee for Citibank branded cards. I think it is unlikely it also applies to NAB cards but I am not sure, hence looking for guidance from someone who has been there since Feb 2024.

I was in seoul in march.

I used my 28degrees card everywhere.

Rarely used cash - only for street markets.

    • When I was there the last time, I used the 28 degrees card where I could. Sometimes the machine would not take my credit card for some reason, I never could figure out why, I had to pay using cash in some places even though they accepted credit card as payment. It was a bit of a swipe and pray. I ended having to withdraw cash daily, hence the post.

I just came back - only needed to withdraw once, and paid dearly for it as I didn't have time to hunt for another ATM (paid an ATM fee of 10000 won - around $11)

But yes don't need much cash - used card almost everywhere
