St Hallett Black Clay Shiraz 6pk $79.02 Delivered ($13.17/Bottle) @ Cellar One (Free Membership Required)

260

Black cracking Biscay clay is a common soil type found in the Barossa Valley. The Biscay soils typically produce wines with berry compote and summer pudding flavors, complemented by luscious velvety tannins.

The latest vintage shows lifted aromas of vibrant dark berries with supple spiciness. Bright mulberry and blackcurrant fruit flavours burst onto the palate, complemented by balanced and even tannins. Abundant acidity makes this is a great option to enjoy with cheesy pasta and pizza.

      define 'good'

not for sitting in the sun on a saturday afternoon listening to the cricket and slowly getting smashed

good with appropriate food, doesnt overpower

not good to impress your wine club

the price isnt anything special, you can buy if for this at many places or cheaper by the dozen https://www.getwinesdirect.com/red-wines/St-Hallett-Black-Cl…

        thank you

    • Unrated - or maybe they're embarrassed to mention the ratings - which doesn't necessarily mean it's mediocre. The Barossa clay "produces" plenty of red wines which weren't to the taste of our small tour group this time last year. Interestingly (?) we didnt always agree of what we liked but we did agree on what we didn't.

Ooi, has anyone tried the Halliday 95pt St Hallet Black sparkling shiraz? Exe at $55 retail.

  • Had this on the plane in Virgin's business class, thoroughly recommend for the money.

Says a lot about VA if they're serving $13 bottles in J class.

      • I mean Qantas wasn't exactly doing any better last time i was one it.
In fact i feel Virgin's lounge shits on the Qantas Club, just not quite Qantas' business lounge though.

Would this be good for cooking Spaghetti Bolognese?
