      $2K for a toy vacuum.

These have their place as a temp/in-between clean, but $2K… that's taking the p*ss.

get the shitty Lubluelu one instead

        • Hey, what's shitty about the Lubluelu. Just cause they are cheap or more to it.

    • Interest rates need to go up bit more.

  • I got it last month @ Harvey Norman for $1999. I priced matched with Amazon that sell it for $1999. Some in Victoria JBHIFI got it for $1637 early this year.

    • Is it worth the money?

      • I need to know this too. Why is it worth $2K?

If you have a pet and young kid(s) it's fantastic. Does a very good job of vacuuming (not a toy) and the mop is actually quite good particularly as it cleans the mop, empties the water and dries the mop.
Take things off the ground before you go out and press start. Come home to clean carpet and mopped tiles and floorboards.
I'd say each house clean is worth $20. So long as you do it 100 times you break even.

          • @stufrase: Thanks for a good, quick response, it was a genuine question (I'm not one of the people calling it a toy). I got one of the original xiaomi maybe around a decade ago (from memory, it was a while ago) and gotten good use out of it.

It's getting to a point where I need another one. This one seems pretty good (but expensive), which is why I wanted a review.

Yeah it is. Your regular vacuuming is done. It's pretty good on the tiles as well. The initial wireless setup was troublesome but other than that its awesome.

        • Thanks Stufrase and Godkingmax2 i thought it might be. I have a decent non mopping one so if the mopping is good im sold, i have a lot of tiled areas.

I bought one of the first robot vacuums available locally and have been a fan of them since. However, the issue is that the reliability that you get out of them is just not very good. I suspect that you'll only get around 5 years of use out of them before they start developing strange quirks - e.g. bad suction, various things no longer working - e.g. dodgy communication, LIDAR scanner, weird behaviour (e.g. detecting false objects…etc.)

They are really complex electronics and will not last as long as a traditional vacuum / washing machines / fridges…etc. If you divide the cost by its expected life, there's no doubt that these are extremely expensive.

  • Yeedi cube was worth $599 on Amazon before Xmas normally $1k

  • Kogan is not an authorised retailer nor isTristar Online, which are the actual seller. Possibly a grey import? If so, I don't think it's worth the risk given it's so expensive, and Roborock has a banner on their website, specifically warning about not having any warrant if not bought from authorised retailers.

    • Kogan is not an authorised reseller . Tacker is right it might be a grey import

That's straight up illegal. You can't limit consumer rights with arbitrary or blanket statements.

      • There is no limit to consumer rights. What we are saying here is that typically grey imports are not covered under local warranty from the manufacturer. You are still covered by the seller and they will need to provide the warranty for the product.

        • Direct quote from the ACCC

"Local manufacturers are not responsible for problems with parallel imports."

@zol: Doesn't mean they don't have rights, just that they can't exercise them with any business that isn't party to their original supply chain. Any blanket statement like "you don't have warranty if you grey import" is maybe more accurately described as "you can't call us for warranty"
