Nikon D5100 DSLR with 18-55mm VR Lens Kit $479 + $29 Shipping

70

I was just searching for good deals on the current D5100 given that the D5200 has just been announced and should be on the shelves in early 2013.

The Twin lens kit is also on sale $749 with free shipping

This appears to be a good deal, another $40 cheaper than the hong kong based offering that was recently posted

      Thanks. Corrected now.

  • This or Nikon d3200?

Easy decision, d5100. Don't let the higher MP's fool you.

  • What's the D5200 likely to have over the 5100?

Not sure that the 24MP upgrade is worth it most other things seem the same?

Just deciding between canon and nikon…

  • I regret not getting the double lens kit when I bought my 5100. I guess it depends what you use it for but I am a very amatuer photographer and I still wish I had a bigger lens sometimes.

    • That's why I'm looking for one with the 18-105mm lens. Seems like a good middle ground and saves carrying two lenses around… two kids is enough, let alone two lenses

      • I would be interested too.

        • Dealworkz offered it to me for $675 shipped.
Just considering it, not sure if prices will drop more after xmas especially…

        • This place has it cheaper:
          http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Nikon-D5100-kit-w…
$649 with the 18-105mm lens, free shipping, 1 year AU warranty.

That's about $30 less than last week.
Went into a camera shop yesterday and asked, and they said they're clearing them out and will be selling the 5200s. Hoping that means they'll generally be fairly widely reduced.

  • I, too, am having trouble deciding between this great deal for a proven d5100 or whether to wait for the d5200 with slightly better specs but essentially the same camera. I'd love to know the expected RRP for the 5200 kit.

  • I wonder if the camera will appear in Kogan and DSE's 'Clickfrenzy' sales. Seems like a good opportunity to clear out an older model before the replacement comes out

  • In case anyone is still looking, I just bought the D5100 from JB HiFi for $460, body only.
Kogan offers the same for $438 shipped, but they wouldn't offer free shipping and I figured that the extra $22 was worth spending to get 2 year manufacturer warranty instead of 1 year Kogan warranty.

Plan to now get a fixed aperture lens used for under $250 and have an excellent set up for around $700.
