      you dont need to
just clone the drive using norton ghost. i believe the samsung 830 is the model that comes with this in the package :)

when i upgraded i just partitioned my HDD to shrink the OS drive down from 1tb to 50gb. Then cloned this partition (it will take up the actual used size of the partition not full 50gb) and copied it onto the ssd.

I left teh 50gb as a secondary boot OS. Which has come in handy once when i got a virus on my ssd. I booted into the hdd's os and cleaned the SSD and booted back.

      Took 2hrs tops

The 840 Pro is 512GB not 500, and is a fair bit more expensive than that. I think you will find that is a standard 840 (non-Pro) 500GB, though the specs looks like a strange mashup of the 840 and 840 Pro. A bit misleading actually… naughty cplonline methinks…

      • i too found it funny, but the MLC and model code confirms its a PRO… but the price doesn't match with pro models…..

        • Well if you wanted to chance it, you could order one and the make them honour the model code/spec sheet on the website.. would be a bargain seeing as the 512GB 840 Pro is selling for $599 on Newegg

  • Says $419 now, still stocked though.

  • It's also on sale at PCDIY (VIC) for $400..

  • Why would they up the price? seems odd to me…

  • Same at msy, well cheaper since msy is 10kms away from me and i would ride there and back instead of paying PCCG postage http://msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=9828
