For those who only need NBN25, Flip does it for $44.

    • AT the moment there is a $39 for 6 months then back to $48.90 for 12 Mbps/ 0.8 Mbps

FYI, Flip will ask you to send your drive licence via an email.

Been with Flip before. Could not unlock their router when switched to More.

Flip lowest price atm but consistent drop in services. Irritating.

  • Wtf is with the 6months BS. Are ISPs provided with some hidden incentive from NBN for new sign ups?

    • +11

Yes, blame NBN Co. They incentivise us to churn every 6 months. And it is dead simple.

I recon the executives must get paid a bonus based on how many "new" signups the NBN gets.

      • Looks like AU has a population problem based on "new" NBN connections. They must all be hiding in underground dungeons.

ABS is underestimating the country's population by about half.

I recon the executives must get paid a bonus based on how many "new" signups the NBN gets.

Not just the execs lol, it goes all the way down to the salesperson. When I worked in this was about 9x larger for new connections than existing retentions. Mind you it wasn't a huge bonus but certainly enough to push it to everyone - even if existing customers knew anyone lol.

    • I have to factor in paying full price for the month I forget to churn to see if its worth it!

      • Time lag. Wfh means nbn down not an option

  • Don't know Flip any good? Also reverts back to 54.99$ after 6 Months for those of us that don't want to swap twice a year

Dodo is doing NBN100 for $64/m first 6 months https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/National-Broadband-N…

    • 85$ after six months though same price for 12 Months

    • Dodo 70.00 if you go to their web site but $65.00 via whistle out.

    Does Spintel use cgnat?

    • +1

      yes

      • Can it be turned off?

        • +1

          And yes too

        • +1

They charge $5 per month to disable CGNAT.

  • How's the quality? I thought I heard they're not great with the quality of the connection.

    • +1

Going good, seem to be best value for money and no nonsense, customer service is pleasant too when I called one or two times

I transferred to SpinTel yesterday. Continue on the 250Mbps plan. So far so good.
    Was on Exetel

    • do spintel handle the cancellation of your existing service or do i need to go through the pain of that myself?

      • You just sign up to new service and that's it, no need to cancel previous one. Don't forget to use referral.

        • +1

It depends who you are churning away from. Some ISPs require a 30 day notice of cancellation eg Exetel/Superloop.

I was with them for a while, but the 50 plan jumped from $65 pm to $80 per month, yet the wholesale price went down!
I also had issues that they took a long time to get back to me / resolve, put in a complaint to the ombudsman and Spintel contacted me once, then just ignored all my emails and communication after that… so if you don't have any issues, great… but don't expect great customer service from the complaint's department!
Who they only seem to have one person working in it.. Belle… when she did make contact it had the wrong information (information that is on their website)
Not sure how they "Win" all these awards?!?
Anyway… in my experience / imo… go with someone else!

  • OP, can you please define what "New Customers Only" means?

    • Those who never used their service, according to TC

      • Ah crap, so much for the 12 month cooldown period.
        Thanks mate.

  • As someone who is technologically-challenged, if I change to a new nbn provider how difficult is it to reconfigure my existing 2018-vintage modem? Constructive advice in plain English is appreciated.

If you need good tech support and not good with tech I would recommend either Leaptel, Launtel or Aussie broadband.
      They have Aussie based support.

  • Do you need to give 30 days notice for churning from Spintel?

    • No, just churn before next billing cycle

  • I’ve been with Spintel for 7 months. Overall pretty good performance and easy to contact. I’m on a 50/20 plan (no longer available) and my download speed has always been perfect. There were about 2-3 occasions during this time where my upload was around half the speed but that has not happened for a few months. I’ll be staying with them now that the promo period has ended.

I have stopped going for cheap Internet deals after latest Tangerine data breach. :(

    • Too bad, nothing to lose now!

  • Any 100/20 or 100/40 FTTP cheapest plans any good provider?

  • Edit: no cancellation fee but also no refund on remaining month.

My current billing period ends this time next month. If I churn now will I be refunded the remaining of this month or is it different for every ISP?
(I wasn’t sure if it was set by nbn co).

  • How quickly does the churn process occur? I wouldn’t want to be charged a further month on my current plan. Do you usually book it a week prior?

    • 1-2 business days, or if you do in the morning you can be connected to new provider same day in most of the cases

  • Does anyone have a suggestion a router that can be used across the different providers?
Eg, if churning between aussie broadband, superloop, spintel, exetel etc, is there a single router that can be used?
Im fttp if it makes a difference.

    • Fttp only requires a router. Any router working on one provider should work fine on all the others.

The only problem is voip. I have moved between many providers and has to slightly change my voip settings. If your not using voip shouldn't be an issue.

  • How does nbn churning works? Does it transfer automatically on the end of billing period like electricity? Or di i have to choose the date, and let old provider know? Looking forward to switch for the first time.

    • Just sign up to new provider two business days before your next billing cycle and that's it

  • do spintel handle the cancellation of your existing service or do i need to go through the pain of that myself?

    • +1

      They manage everything.
Sign up, put details in modem if on FTTN. Done.

If on FTTP, sign up, done.

      • awesome, thanks for the reply!

Pronto is $59.00 for 100/20 use Superloop network. Been with them for a month with out any problems. Spintel same price as Superloop and Exetel for for 100/20 use to be cheaper then these two but no longer

    • THe Pronto website shows $89 for 100/20

  • keep in mind if going back with spintel even after over a year you will be considered as existing customer without any warning and any discounts will be removed after you have signed up, I did sign up for NBN250 plan having tried 3 x different routers which supported 1gbps internet connection was not even getting 100mbps on fttp connection, and was told by spintel to buy router from them to do further tests and unable to leave service without being charged for 1 whole month, currently with exetel with 250mbps tier and getting over 200mbps continuously on same modem which was tested with spintel

    • Punctuation.
      Please.

    • That's mentioned in T&C though

  • does spintel use dynamic ip? - one that doesn't require you to update the username in the router. I am currently with super loop and they are dynamic, it can be a pain if I am not at home and it affects the household etc

    • Reverse proxy. Self-hosted ngnix perhaps
