    Don't most kettles stop the button clicking when there's no power like how you can't lock a toaster down if it's not plugged in.

  My use case will be to schedule the water to boil automatically in the morning and keep it warm so it is always ready for my morning coffee.

  Make sure you can actually do this. I have a different Kogan smart kettle and while there are multiple temperature options etc. the smart controls are limited to on/off.

  Just do what I do, get a large pot to boil your water, use what you need for your coffee/tea, then freeze the rest for later.

  It automatically lowers and raises the tea leaves so you get a perfect cuppa.

  It has an autostart function so that you can set it to automatically brew in the morning, too, although I've never actually used that feature.

  I dont understand why people downvote this. I have a similar Kogan kettle where the base is just for power no buttons. I do use with google home, and it’s brilliant. I don’t know who likes going to kettle pressing the button and wait. This one you can tell google and go make your tea etc when ready. Mine is 4years+ old. Started to play up (had to re-configure twice) this would be a good replacement.

    My question for these is do these smart kettles report water levels or at least low water levels.

    I don't keep tabs on my kettles water level and really you're meant to only boil the water you actually need. So smart features need pre planning to make sure you have the water you think you'll need for the next time you boil it every time you finish using it.

    It's similar to our dryer and dishwasher that both have smart features, I still need to load them and make sure there's detergent and the door is closed. At that point delay end is just as good as wifi activation and more reliable. I like smart home stuff but do wonder if we really need everything to be smart like this.

      You are not wrong. This kettle checks water level and if below a threshold doesn’t run. I dont believe mine has this feature. But I never leave any kettle without water, smart or not.

    I am guessing that it is because you still cannot automate pouring the water into the kettle bit.

    But I get it, if you make it a habit to always fill out the water at night, then in the morning you can tell Google to boil the kettle when you are brushing your teeth.

    Is it smart enough to detect that there's no water in there, therefore will turn off the boiling? If not it could be quite dangerous.

      This one definitely says it has low water detection. But it’s a $50 equipment. I dont think for a second that the temperature sensor is good enough to avoid fire risk. Best to ALWAYS make sure enough water is in the kettle for the next time.

    Sitting at my PC in the study, almost coffee break time, (or in my case, cup of noodles)

    "Hey Google turn the kettle on"

    Finish up what I'm doing, go to kitchen, kettle boiled.

    Heck, on the other side of the room, doing something like getting a pot ready for pasta, hand full, start the kettle boiling while doing other things, although it doesn't save that much time, this is unproportionaly satisfying for some reason, and in my case enough to justify.

    Loved my last one, but the last model from a few years ago had a design flaw where the screws came out and stepped the unit at the handle. Totally different model design though. It was a glass one this is metal so should be fine… That said, most of my Kogan products only last a few years.
