SmoothCactus opened up one of these Lencent charger-adapters and found it unsafe. Might want to stay away.

    • I agree with SmoothCactus’s point about buying an adapter, then using whatever charger you want.

    • Thank you for the post. Not all heros wears capes.

I'm only downvoting this purely due to safety and quality. Should not be bought or even considered.

        Just the one?
If that’s the going rate then I should stop absolutely all devices in my home. Including fridge, oven, toaster, washing machine, air fryer, coffee machine, even my coffee table cuz the return rates of these products are at least 1% - some are like 45% like Mitsubishi Lancer a decade ago or Toyota Hilux in the last few years at 20% not to mention the return rate of Mercedes at 25%.
I’m guessing all of these deals if they come up they’re gonna get negative votes from you all?

It's the potential of hazard, that's why I downvoted.

Do you recall the teen that was electrocuted in Aussie by a poorly designed low quality charger?

I've repaired plenty of electrical white goods and note when looking at the circuit designs, there are proper isolation circuits. These are white goods from mainstream brands like samsung, miele, bosch, haier, etc. I can't speak for unknown brands.

At the end of the day, you do you. Your choice to the risk for the sake of money.

There are a few sayings: "Can't bring money into the afterlife." "A poor man buys twice." etc

  • Thanks OP I needed a bonfire starter! This will be perfect 🤩

Bought 3 of these for an overseas trip late last year ( one for my wife and I and a spare).

One died within 2 weeks, one i stopped using at the tail end of the trip as two of the ports looked like they had shorted/had corrosion, and the other was fine throughout but has since been disposed of.

For our next trip I'll be spending more for something of higher quality.

  • I've got 1 of these and it works out fine for my last trip. just curious - what's a good/reliable brand?

    Anyone have a safe alternative?

Buy them separately. Get travel adapters from you local post office / dollar / grocery / hardware store and pair with one of the more reputable USB chargers recommended on here.

Stay away from Heymix & Lencent and you should be fine for the most part.

Hilarious. I just bought 1 x Lencent and 1 x Heymix (both 120W GAN III travel chargers) to take to Europe. I guess I'll find out whether they survive.

Don't leave them plugged in unattended and good luck I guess 😅

Lot of likes and support for this adapter in past deals. Now it can't even get to double figures and has a neg as well. Is it really that bad?

    • Most people just see something cheap and think if lots of people are buying it, it must be good; this is how HEYMIX deals used to get tonnes of upvotes for years. No regard for electrical safety. This seems to be slowly changing for the better now.

"Non-Grounding: This adapter is designed to work with non-grounding electrical sockets, making it safe and reliable to use." This selling point I think is dangerous….I'm thinking there is no ground. Can anyone educate me otherwise?

i've used this for multiple trips in the last 2 years and never and never had any issues. YMMV

  • I've got the 30W version of this adapter. Used it on my trip last month to Japan, no issues with it. Though to be safe I always unplug after use.
