From SmoothCactus, looks like the same product.

    "Hiya

    Neighborhood cactus tester here.

    I've opened these up.

They aren't good quality. Circuit topology cuts corners, uses cheapest parts available, missing certain industry standard safety features, very very very egregious power factor correction results in a lot of strain to your local grid, poor quality AC pins that are not to specification and standard, poor/non existent surge protection, etc etc

They claim to meet IEC 60884-2-5, but I found multiple points that are in violation of it. I can't find any independent certification of ANY sort in ANY lencent devices either, this also puts into question their claims for other standards they supposedly meet.

Additionally you may not actually be able to charge all your devices with this despite being 65w. The 65w USB C port only supports 20v 3.25A and does not do PD or QC of anything between. So it's unable to do 5v higher amps, 9v,12v or 15v.

Overall I would skip this one. Best thing to do is buy international adapters without any or without higher power usb ports as they will be much higher quality, and cheaper. THEN plug in whatever USB adapters you have.

Anything like a steam deck or any 45w, 30w, 25w, 18w devices will not work. At this point it's basically not too far off from a lower power device.

You'll get much more peace of mind and safety, it's a bit of a hassle but during travel, the last thing you want are for your attached devices to blow or fail because of a surge, dirty electricity, or just the unit deciding to shit itself.

Overall I give this 2 cacti out of 5."

Unrelated to this LENCENT travel adapter but have you seen reviews of for Baseus GAN chargers? I have the 60W and 100W ones that are shaped like a brick with AC power sockets on them.

They're good stuff, some of the better ones.

Unfortunately the plug is cn not au, which are in violation of au standards (insulation on half the plug) as well as slightly smaller.

This hasn't changed usability for me and they perform well, but you should know it's not as safe when you plug and unplug because it's exposed without the insulation, and that things you plug into the brick side may be very snug/tight but that hasn't ever caused anything to not work.

        • +1

Can vouch for this. Zapped myself once when first using this plug. Once zapped, twice shy I guess - I make sure I pull the plug out with just my fingertips on the side instead of using part of my palm on one side.

    • Any cheap cheap you would recommend then?

Paging SmoothCactus you are required at Aisle 6.

Edit: Tried but he/she does not accept PM.

        • +2

Thanks for letting me know I'll open PM requests up I had no idea it was blocked by default.

          • @SmoothCactus: Piggybacking on this comment chain, are there any particular >100W GaN multi-port chargers that you would recommend?
I'm looking for something smaller/portable, that can charge my laptop (Lenovo Legion^) and mobile phone on the go.
I used to have a URVNS 100W 4-Port GaN Charger for ~$37 from Aliexpress for this purpose, but that has finally died after 2 yrs of use. Looking for something a bit more higher quality to reduce E-waste.
[^The Lenovo Legion's Type-C port accepts up to 100W (20V/5A). It has to be at least 65W (20V/3.25A) to charge or 45W (20V/2.25A) to charge during sleep, hibernation or power-off.]

I'm also currently waiting a SlimQ 330W charger for my Lenovo Legion if I want to use it intensively for gaming, but that's still quite large compared to typical GaN chargers

Do you have a good small power board?

Buy the cheapest adapter for wherever you're traveling to at a dollar store and use it with a small power board if you can.

You will have a better experience, better ability to use all the things you own and it will be cheaper than any adapter. Even at this sale price I don't think anyone should be spending this much to adapt to international plugs.

If a power strip is too big or problematic, there are 65w and 100w Baseus GaN chargers that are a brick that have 2 AU plugs on them to act as a charger / power strip. Or if you see those small cubes or splitters those work too, they don't have to be conventional power strips if size is a concern.

Basically, what you have now and a strip will be better financially, functionally and ease of use wise.

        • Appreciate your posts/comments cactus.

Any all in one adaptors you would recommend or you would go for small power board + cheap adaptor every time? And which small power board would you recommend if so?

          Cheers

    • "anything like a steam deck…will not work"

Not sure where you got that from. I currently have a steam deck plugged into it and it works and charges just fine. I've also traveled a bit with this and I've charged a MacBook Pro and my phone off the USB-c ports simultaneously without any issues.

    • Just some corrections as am unable to edit after any voting

You can charge things like the steam deck and other devices, I had some issues with my unit that lined up with incorrect labelling/description on lencents end - I should have tested and investigated further but I didn't because I felt it still wouldn't change the conclusion.

The biggest takeaway anyone should have though isn't that it won't work, but that it's shoddy in usage and somewhat unreliable, see other people's comments on the pins, holes, the receptacles and their tensioning on what you plug in causing issues in usage…

Either way - I think people should just buy a cheap dollar adapter and/or get a small power strip.

These are unusable in Japan/US because their pathetic plug style can't hold any weight, and it was too fat to fit in the UK style plugs in Singapore. Took one with me on a recent trip and instantly replaced it with a ¥300 Daiso usb adaptor instead

Good info. Where can we read your reviews?

      • Where's the review page for all this stuff? It looks useful

      • Would a cheap adapter have any effect if I'm trying to power both chargers + a Switch? Assuming best to get a good quality power strip or a cheap bunnings one will do.

This guy needs to review stuff.
There's some page with a giant giant database I saw recently of it. Guy who basically EVERYTHING charger at AliExpress

      • Interesting - do you happen to remember the site? I can't spot anything.

        • I think it was posted here - the dude had photos and info on SO MUCH aliexpress stuff, it was insane, hundreds of things.

          • @hamwhisperer: I would mind seeing these reviews. Have you been able to find the page/pages of them so that we can take a look at them.

I took this on our recent trip to Bali and it was great. Charged my S22 Ultra at super charge speed without any issues.

  • Took this to thailand worked great, charged my s22 ultra gopro and tab s8. If i had plug one in the orange type c i would get fast charge sign on my s22.

Yeah, when the algorithm realises the listing has gotten attention, it raises the price.

  • Is this a 🔥 deal like Heymix?

    • Not sure. Haven't seen any overheating so far but it hurts my nose when I smelled the plastic

I have something similar, but don't like so happy to replace if my issue is not an issue for this one…

Issue - When I plug in my converter into a Country's outlet that doesn't have an earth prong, then the converter blocks me from inserting an item that does have an earth prong, as example, AU power board.

I can't immediately see from the above or page listing, but does anyone know if the earth prong for the converter is blocked if the connecting power end doesn't include/accept one?

  • On a double GPO it sags in the socket because it hits the GPO on/off button. That has to be violation of some standard

    • +1

This doesn't even meet AS/NZS standards to begin with.

    • It's in violation of a lot of standards… Which countries one do you want to pick out 😅

    • Ah thanks for the heads up. Mine is packed to go to Japan in 2 weeks. Will just bring a socket adapter and my normal charger.

    • Didn't have any issues in Japan. Your power adapter may have been too heavy or the wall socket holes may have been too loose.

    • Just back from 2 week Japan trip. Used this to charge mobiles daily. No issues. Worked perfectly.

  • showing about $18 on mine with shipping and tax (new account)

I took one of these overseas to Europe and Asia last month.

Works fine, except the prongs are a little short or thin, (?not sure), or maybe it's a bit heavy, so that sometimes when the unit hangs vertically (plugged into wall), it's loose and doesn't hold a connection. But if flat on the ground there's no problem.

  • Bought this a while back. Gets use as my work laptop charging brick when I travel (65w laptop)…works a treat!
