I just picked up 3x 500g bags of Sacred Grounds at $8ea and thought that was a bargain aha

    • Yeah I saw that. I picked them up first then saw this and thought it was a better bargain. Especially because of the roast date.

      • Where’d you see them? There were only a few bags at Lakes Entrance and regular price at Loganholme when my mum looked so I didn’t bother posting

      • Where did you see the sacred grounds coffee if you don’t mind me asking? Would love to know. Thanks so much!

    • @linkindan You are a LEGEND for commenting this, thank you.

That price for sacred grounds is acc an amazing deal - bc it’s organic.

Could you pls kindly confirm if you got it from here (The Australian Products), and if they charged you postage? It’s showing no postage cost for me when I try checkout.

      https://www.theaustralianproducts.com/product/sacred-grounds…

My mum only drinks organic coffee and would be so grateful.

      Thank you!!!

      • Just wondered if you ordered the sacred grounds coffee from this website? It doesn't seem to add shipping but their FAQ seems to indicate it is added after the order.

  • Is this store specific ?

  • -1

    Too intense for me.

  • +2

Anyone able to confirm this isn't completely undrinkable?

      And

TRY IT. LOVE IT. OR YOUR MONEY BACK

    • +2

Yeah we buy it as backup when we run out of good beans

It is drinkable. Pretty good value really

    • +1

We buy this ground as our daily coffee and it’s surprisingly decent

    • +1

I recently started buying it as a daily and like it! Comparable to Aldi Dark Roast at same price point

    • -2

It's not Aldi coffee so it should be ok.

    • It is roasted in Melbourne.. the USE BY date seems to be 12 months from roast.. so you can work out how fresh it is

All 3 types are (blue, purple, brown bag) are awesome

I used to buy beans from Merlo or Mycuppa but can't justify the cost when these are as good and 1/3rd the price

    • These are great beans. Gives heaps of crema as they are always really fresh.

  • If you'll be doing in 2 weeks time to get YOUR MONEY BACK. (why you care about the price?By the way does empty bags still can get money back?)

    • +4

Because if it tastes OK, will be keeping it

By the way does empty bags still can get money back?

      From my understanding, yes.

The only time I returned was for fish that tasted bad and all I needed to do was show them the empty packaging

      • Once I returned frozen veg in a pack to Woolies, 1/3 remaining, and they fully questioned me

        • +3

Depends who you get doing your return. If its a happy harold, it's easy peasy, but if it's a kranky karen, may the force be with you.

One time I returned Mission Wraps as they were sticking together. Bag was empty. Dude didn’t even care just said go grab another bag.

Another time returned a roast that had green slime all through it, even still had the meat in the bag. The lady was a bloody nazi and nearly didnt do the return until I asked to speak with a manager. Then she made me fill out a full A4 report with name and contact details as if she was going to file it with the return police. Needless to say she got 'John Smith' with john.smith@yahoo and 0412 345 678.

Always have to laugh at people working for supermarket conglomerates that take their job as seriously as if they worked for a family owned store.

Possible plot twist…roast date was 09/05/23 which makes it 1 year fresh…

  • My wife and I loved illy Intenso but man it's pricey. So I mix this with illy, but even on its own, if brewed properly, if you like strong espresso, is the best value I have come across

  • Bought a bag today…1 year into coffee snob journey.
Discovered Beans can taste massively different depending on brew pressure.

Added a pump dimmer to my Barista express (OPV mod was useless), and discovered the Aldi medium beans at 7-8bar are pretty good (used to not like them). I did like Aldi Brazilian beans, but they extract well at 9 and above anyway.

Anyone played with these Intense Beans?

Amazing how different the same bean can taste (let alone the standard grind, temp and extraction time).

    • 2 years and ill still experimenting with coffee beans

    • Very true… multiple variables that affect the taste!
Have you tried the Aldi dark roast? It’s pretty good value at $12/kg. I quite like the taste. I haven’t tried extracting at different pressures - what do you recommend?

      • +1

The Aldi dark in Feb was less "dark" than usual and wasn't too bad.
Find the dark better in the Auto's (Magnifica/ Jura etc).
In terms of pressure variance, the dark is less sensitive to pressure changes. 7-9 bar (basically generic) seems to be the same.
I make my own bean mix of 25% Aldi dark with 75% Aldi Medium beans. Gives the medium a bit more of a dark chocolate note. Run it closer to high 7 bar.
*Note - I back off to 6 bar for the last few seconds.

    • Lance daddy shared some limited testing recently and it appears the effect of pressure seems less clear on taste:
      https://youtu.be/5U2od3JAIrc?si=K672r1UM9eSvL2AH

      • Depends on the coffee, and your taste buds.

Tried this Intense gear today. Kept it around 7 bar, and it's pretty good. Full 9 bar..you can see why it's called "Intense". So definitely can change the notes with pressure.

Not quiet as good as Aldi Medium beans (different taste in fairness, so some would love it). But had worse beans from boutique roasters. So at $13, I'd go Aldi. $6..grab it. Texture / freshness was very good.

Tried it in the Jura..and dropped it! So not sure how it goes in Autos.

*Most importantly, at just under 6 bar it stops completely, so the beans are fresh.

  • +1

This is good value even at full price - and better beans than the supermarket stocked brands at double or triple the price. We drink a lot of coffee and will generally get Lime Blue delivered fresh for $25 or so a kg, but failing that, it's Aldi beans or this

  • (Not a coffee snob but picky on certain taste tones). Been running with a bag of the other Coles beans at, to compare with some Aldi ones. Nothing "obviously wrong" with them. I'd try these for just $6 …

  • TRY IT. LOVE IT. OR YOUR MONEY BACK. (which I'll be doing in 2 weeks time when my current bag I opened today is finished).

If you're going to do this, you don't need to worry about the discounted deal.

  • -1

Note, if you're after taste and health benefits, high intensity/dark roast means you only get the former if you like that taste.

    • Why is that? Are the antioxidants destroyed?

      • inb4 cancer curing claims like "pepper".

  • This is one of the few products where we asked our money back. Was a while ago, perhaps a bad batch.

At the time we put it down to the fact that it is not 100% Arabica. Doesn't state what it is, but given the difference in commodity prices, it is bound to be mostly Robusta.

    • +1

I read that Italy drinks mostly cheaper robusta beans (which taste more bitter) and so have the habit of adding sugar to their espresso for a nice balanced taste

I drink arabica without sugar - but if it's a bitter robusta, with sugar also fine.

    • The crema looks like Arabica to me, and the Coles servo stuff is a 3 bean arabica blend (probably one of each of these flavours blended together).

    • I bet it's still better than Coffee sold by Rudy Guiliani.

  • Fairfield Queensland $12 so it's state or stores specific

Heaps left the store in SA this morning, ticketed for $6. Best before 9/5/25. Thanks.

    • Can't go wrong with $6 per kg especially with the brands money back guarantee.

Which store mate? Warradale it's all out.

  • +2

    Got some in WA.

    • Which store please?

  • Would this be good to season my coffee grinder?

    • I hate these coffee nonsense stuff. Up there with preheating a thermoblock machine tor an hr. Just crazy.
If you aren't tamping (say drip coffee), then maybe you want a specific burr edge. But if you are tamping. The burrs will never be better than their first cut.

  • None at Wollongong

  • Got a few packs left West End Brisbane. BB 28/03/25

  • Thanks for posting OP.
Great price and after a lot of ringing stores I managed to get 2 bags.

  • Got 1 from lane cove today. Price tag said $12 but scanned at $6. BB same as OP. 3 other packets left on the shelf.

I never have to go to Aldi again…..

  • Who expired this.
Bought one last night for $6 and still tag is $6 at Bankstown store

    • I expired this after seeing a report and checking the price (not in store but online, with Bankstown set). Will make a note that it's in store only and not reflected online (had hamza actually check in store).

      • Ah OK. They may have forgot to remove ticket.
        I'll expire until someone confirms

        • +1

Sorry I mean to say I expired the deal by mistake. Hamza corrected me stating the deal is valid as they went shopping by circumstance just now and saw your comment, while standing in the checkouts at coles.
