    • Thanks for the personal info…

    • Because the best journ-sorry trash comes from the herald sun. Why stick to something so boring when you can read such amazing fiction?

Or read the Australian to find out who Murdock wants you to vote for?

I don't like the age, but it remains the least-bad of the commercial news sources in Australia.

  • Thanks, $120 poorer.

  • Nice deal thanks OP

  • Would be cheaper to sign up as students in January. Maybe $20 for monday-Friday campus pickup and home delivery on weekends

  • Wow nobody picked up the horrid maths in this post.. Note it is TheAge website making the declarations of "savings", the OP has simply pasted them in. (Great set of offers regardless)

(The following information will be useful to nobody!)
    The newsstand price is $624 ($12/week : $1.50 x 5 days, $2.50 Sat, $2 Sun)
    A "standard" subscription (https://subscriptions.fairfax.com.au/starts/start_offers.asp…) is $517.40 for 52 weeks - $9.95/week. Or 26 weeks, $275 - $10.57/week

So any savings should be calculated from one of these 2 RRPs.

Quote : 52 weeks for $120 ($2.30 a week, and a saving of $108 off the newsstand price)
    - suggests newsstand price is $228 for 52 weeks ($120 + $108 saving)
Quote : 26 weeks for $79 ($3 a week, and a saving of $324 off the newsstand price)
    - suggests newsstand price is $403 for 26 weeks, $806 for 52 weeks)
Quote : Monday - Sunday, 26 weeks $99 (75% off the newstand price)
    - suggests newsstand price is $396 for 26 weeks, $792 for 52 weeks)

    • Sorry but your math is wrong. They increased shelf prices in August - see http://panpa.org.au/2012/07/20/the-age-price-increase/ - less paper, less photos, less journalism, more cost. Slow suicide is so painful to watch.

      • Surely they are still just function off people who buy it out of habit. That should keep them going for a while, but the end is definately coming.

        • Digital paywall coming up next year too. I guess they think we'll either (a) go back to print; and/or (b) pay for online content…. they're yelling NO NO NO and shaking their heads at option (c) go somewhere else for (real journalistic) news content.

  • Wish I could get this deal posted to Adelaide :(

  • My annual subscription cost for Thur-Sun was about $52 two years ago, it went up to about $64 last year. When it was up for renewal a month ago, they offered $70 for half a year and I declined. Have not missed it much.

  • I signed up last year for the 99$ deal … http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/47004
They renewed me this year for the same price (7 day print and digital)

I still like a printed newspaper in the morning and happy to pay some money for a digital edition.
