Creative WP-300 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones for Music - $69.95 with Free Shipping

30

I was looking for a new pair of Bluetooth headphones and found these on the creative website. They are not the current model but the only difference i could see in the comparison seems is they dont have a built in microphone.

$69.95 with free shipping seems to be a very good price. $149.95 original RRP

I got a set of these earlier this year for $79.95 from oo.com.au

Good product, quick charge, long battery life. Support for AptX codec which is a BIG plus.

No mini jack feature to use as wired passive phones though, which would be nice.

It's not bad, but a bit tight on the ears so it starts to hurt after an hour.

    • I agree. They're not over ear, they're "on" ear. Wasn't sure if it was just me not being used to that sort of thing after wearing ear buds for so long. But yeh, starts to ache after a while.

I used to be a big fan of Creative (owning the Jukebox and Zen) but recently had some major problems trying to get them to honour their warranty for a pair of Aurvana Air headphones.

After a lot of effort they replaced them, but their original response to my request to return it under warranty went something like…:

"I would like to inform you that the limited warranty does not apply to the damage caused by normal wear and tear, abnormal use or conditions, misuse, neglect, abuse, accident, improper handling or storage, exposure to moisture, unauthorized modifications, alterations, or repairs, improper installation, improper use of any electrical source, undue physical or electrical stress, operator error, non-compliance with instructions or other acts which are not the fault of Creative, including damage or loss during shipment.

As such, I am afraid that you will not be able to use the warranty claim form in warranty servicing and we will treat the product as out of warranty case. I would not advice you to service this unit, as it is more economical to purchase a new product than getting
this unit repaired. In addition, the new purchase unit will come with a full 12 month warranty coverage."

To get them to change their tune I had to do the whole 'Fair Trading' thing which took some effort.

Might have just been a one-off. Just thought it was worth mentioning to people.

  • Do these use some version of "bluetooth audio", or a proprietary protocol through bluetooth? I imagine if it is standard "bluetooth audio" that the quality might not be optimal, depending on what the device supports.
