This seems to be the best deal at the moment for the U6-Pro. Warranty returns to Germany may be an issue, but Amazon are supposedly easy to deal with. Now if there were some good deals on the U7-Pro.

Can pay $10 more ($279) and get it from: " Ships from and sold by Computer Alliance Pty Ltd " which'll have no warranty issues, and should be the aussie product?

Hope someone else chimes in, i wont be buying as I have U7 Pros

Nah why bother supporting local businesses. Just cheapest cheapest right?

      • +2

Ahh true i nearly forgot my ozbargain spirit, buy now, think later.

        • +5

Buy now, complain later that local options no longer exist.

          • @schquid: My favourite are the variations of "where will I be able to go and see them in person before I buy online now that the store closed down..?"

  • Is this compatible with AU wifi standards / spectrum?

    • +2

It'll configure itself to your country as per the site.

I wouldn't get the U7 pro anyway unless they bring out a version or alternative without fans.

    • thanks i didnt know that the U7 Pro has a fan in it. Ive owned two, one which has been sitting on carpet til i can buy wall arm holder and I’ve never heard the fan run. Just popped it against my ear and cant hear a thing. Maybe since its winter right now?

      • +1

Yeah probably. Still who knows what new software updates will do.

    • I’ve had two U7 Pros for a couple of months and never noticed the fans. Those who have tested these units have said the fan only runs when the AP becomes quite hot. So I don’t think noise is an issue.
Modern laptop fans, like the ones found in these APs, are quite reliable and are rated to last between 30,000 and 50,000 hours, which is 3.5 to 5.5 years of continuous operation. Since these aren’t running 24/7, I’d expect them to last well beyond 5 years, which IMO is more than the practical lifespan of an AP anyway. So again IMO longevity isn’t an issue either.
Fans are found in a lot of electronics these days, from TVs to even some smartphones, so its not a deal breaker. I'd rather have a fan kick in when necessary to keep the AP cool, rather than have it throttled or, worse, overheat and fail.
For anyone wanting to get U7 Pro, I'd say go for them. They are pretty fast. I can get close to 1Gbps (limited by my 1Gbps network) in the same room and get 500Mbps+ everywhere else.

  • @Commodore64 Did you find a good deal on your U7 Pros?

  • +2

Note* U6-Pro does not come with a PoE injector, it will require a PoE+ (/802.3af) device to power

    • +1

      u6-pro requires PoE (802.3af)
      PoE+ (802.3at) is NOT required.

  • Not the best deal since an import.
