Been an Apple user for 10 or so years now and was quite disappointed with the new features (or lack thereof) of the iPhone 16.

Started looking around to see what Android devices are around and noticed these Flip 6s for $1170 when retail is around $1800?

    Without manufacturer warranty? No thanks

    • Oh, I didn't know that these don't come with warranty.

What about Australian consumer law on the seller themselves? Would that get you a replacement if it breaks within 2 years?

      • From their T&C:
        Shop with confidence
Comprehensive 6-12 months local warranty terms and conditions. We offer a comprehensive 6-12-months local warranty (Used and New respectively) to give you additional peace of mind. You don’t have to be concerned about warranty issues often associated with purchases sourced from overseas and not covered in Australia. Now, it’s a real peace of mind.

        Return Policy

        POM
BecexTech also offers 14 days POM(Peace-Of-Mind) return policy. All POM returned product will incur charge for re-stocking fees. The charge may varied depending on the item condition. However, BecexTech reserves the right to refuse the return if the product is not in reasonable condition.

      • Consumer law doesn't apply to grey imports.

Their claim of local warranty just means they have technicians based in Australia if you had issues.

Samsung Australia won't touch an international model even if you pay them.

Grey imports are not worth for a folding phone.

I'm surprised you were disappointed with the features of iPhone 16. I was pleasantly surprised with the features and how much value the iPhone 16 base model has actually become. I'd genuinely opt for iPhone 16 over the base s24 if it weren't for the OS. What made you disappointed with the iPhone launch, opting for android alternatives?

There’s a thinner bezel and a button for the camera. The rest seem pretty insignificant and not that much of an improvement over the 15 or even 14

I mean you could argue for the same thing for pretty much every other brand. But fair enough! At the end of the day, every new phone series is just a touched up, slightly improved model. Hardly a difference between s23 vs s24 and iPhone 15 vs iPhone 16.

I think it was the form factor of the flip that got me. iPhones have looked exactly the same for 5 or 6 years now, and we still don't have many features that has been standard in Samsungs since forever.

I wouldn't swap an iPhone for an S24, but a folding or flip phone I might

What ? Samsung has phones with pens, flip and fold phones there's an entire ecosystem outside "rectangular slab with minor changes" which is also included as that lack of change seem important to many people, Then there's multiple other manufactures producing hardy outdoor orientated, tri fold for a variety of innovations and changes

  • Nice price, but local warranty is important.

The wife got a screen replacement option at time of purchase and that turned out to be needed. However that was a flip 3, maybe they're fault free now? (he said optimistically)

  • A word of caution, folding phones are at best half baked experiments. My Galaxy fold 4 has been to Samsung twice for screen protector replacements, which they do for free 3 times within the first three years of ownership (provided you can provide proof of ownership) but each time I’ve had to leave my phone for a week with them not to mention the sub par “customer service” from the Samsung Kiosk staff. I am an iMac user - now a happy iPhone user since the last 7 months.

    • I have found you don't really need a screen protector so much on a folding phone though, because the screen is protected when it's folded already.

      • The film is required to reinforce the fragile internal display and is not just to prevent scratches, basically it is the equivalent of a load bearing column in a building.

  • apple hasnt had new features since iphone 3g

    • at least they changed the design from 3GS to 4 when Steve was around…..

now that the design is gone with Steve…

  • it just says nano sim, aint they all dual sim or nano + esim?
