If you don't need the format (ITX) and don't need the cores for workload you'd generally be better getting a conventional setup as you would likely get better single core performance (important for gaming) and have more flexibility and upgradability in the long run.
Less IO, poor BIOS support and no CPU upgrades are the main negatives to me. The difference between this and a non-X3D CPU is margin of error territory with gaming and if you're running a 4080 or 5080 it's unlikely you'll be running resolutions where you actually are CPU constrained i.e. 1080p or below. 7800X3D on the other hand would give big gains at all resolutions apart from 4K but that applies against any non-X3D CPU.
This seems quite good if you have a Mini-ITX that you want to upgrade. If you want to build one from scratch perhaps budget $500+ for extras, not including any external peripherals.

I accidentally bought two if anyone in Brisbane wants one. PM me and I'll uncancel the order.
Sent you a PM
Has anyone received a shipment status yet? Mine just says order confirmed 🫤
Nothing yet. I did just send them an email.
Same, although given its the generic email, im not expecting a quick reply.
DHL shipment notification now
Haha same just checled my email and was about to post but you beat me to it. Prob took a while as they would do a bulk shipment as its cheaper.
Same - DHL Express.
@Yuri Lowell: You had any tracking updates, ghey havent actually shipped yet only sent info to DHL, bit weird its tuesday and not picked up yet….
Hmmm mine still hasn’t shipped. Anyone else waiting?
Yep just says shipment info received by dhl on Friday, they seem to be backpeddling a bit…
Just got notification of dispatch, so mine is in transit now.
Yep same, lol sent them an email last night saying whats happening too 😅🤪
Delivery date 24th October which seems slow for DHL express.
Mine is expected, 18 October 2024
@RNDM: Arrived. The board looks bare without the ssd heatsink, but all good.
Got to wait for my RAM still in the mail .. was hoping to build it this weekend.
@RNDM: Same with me. The board has an audio header which was a nice surprise.
I've built the PC so far. With a slim 12mm fan it literally fits within the millimetre with my triple slot GPU in the Fractal Era 2. Was sweating bullets when I couldn't get the fan in initially…
Using the board right now. It had no issues installing Windows and it's running great. 31950~ in Cinebench R23. Temperatures peak at about 70-75C in all core workloads so there's lots of thermal headroom there. I've got a 15mm slim 120mm on mine so I'd imagine you could get better temps with a beefier 25-30mm fan.
It also detects that 96GB Crucial kit that was posted. Defaults to 5200 and all 96GB is usable.
The BIOS is actually not too bad. It has all the usual options. You can modify most CPU and RAM settings and set PBO. It uses 100W by default. You can set rebar and turn off the iGPU. The fan control is pretty bad but does have fan curves although it's not very fine-grained, so I switched to a static setting. The PC boots extremely quickly and there doesn't seem to be any bloat with the BIOS.
I'm also getting full PCI-E 4.0 speed (7500/7000). Overall, very happy with the board and price.
Jealous i didn't get one now

Is this a smart purchase for a first time gaming pc build? I’m planning on getting a 4080 if they get cheaper, or even a 5080 if reasonably priced. Whats the downside of getting this instead of a normal desktop cpu and motherboard?
