  • One review said it arrived cracked. I've had other times where Amazon has delivered my much anticipated items damaged/broken too. Not sure if I should risk it here.
Anyway what is the pot good for? Hot pot?

    • Great pot. Arrive cracked but Amazon replaced without any issue.

    • My first one had a broken lid which Amazon refunded, but the second one survived.

    • Yep I bought one last time and they literally just put the box as in inside a soft plastic envelope, no padding or protection whatsoever.

I got one of these back in 2023, have not started using it yet as a great deal of care is required during cooking and cleaning after.

Also a word of warning, after I make my purchase, I learned there is a lot of counter fit in the market and guess where they came from…. yes China. I still unable to verify if mine is real or not, and I don't think Amazon JP police this.

Honestly donabe like these don't require too much care at all, especially since they are glazed they're easier to use then the unglazed chinese or vietnamese claypots (which aren't too hard either).

Just don't heat them up too fast, and even then they're pretty resilient.

I use my donabe all the time with barely any special care at all. It's a very nice way to cook, especially winter dishes.

      • First you have to prepare the pot, you can't use high heat, have to watch all the time when cooking starch base products so they don't stick. Also have to wait for it to cool down before cleaning and the suckest part you can't put in dish washer.

This for some who don't even want to hand wash rice cooker is a lot of trouble (yes i know I shouldn't have brought it).

  • If you like to make shrimp porridge.

  • I have no faith in it at all. Purchased 3 times, arrived cracked every time. I had to contact the customer service again and again.

    • I purchased 3 and 2 arrived cracked. One they refunded without hassle but the second had to deliver it to a distribution center.
