                @Dollar Dreamer: I had a similar Q - if the item was $99 could I pay with a $100 GC. It was suggested that I put it all on my apple wallet. Couldn’t be easier. (And you also ensure validity of the cards asap.). I wouldn’t imagine your scenario will be a problem. I could see many people could get say a $100 GC as a present and would use that to go against an item costing much more

      I would say no. I've never bought Apple Care mind you, but think about it - the device likely will never move. Any faulty components, normal warranty should/would cover.

      Honestly if i were to buy this i would skip it, i bought apple care for both my laptop and phones but they tend to just lapse while the device is still in perfect condition.
      Phone i would simply for losing it but i doubt you'll lose your mini and im sure regular warranty covers any issues that may come up

      Credit with the extended warranty is definitely a winner over 10% discounts. Similarly also a winner against BNPL options.

      This is one of the best things about having a credit card. Need to choose a suitable annual fee option for yourself.

      Credit card protection also extends to travels insurance if you put your purchases through it.

    Man if only the Mac Mini M4 Pro was $1499 AUD ($999 USD) with the binned chip. God damn, the Internet would have collapsed. Apple would have obliterated the PC Windows market to a niche ultra geeky tiny segment within 3 years.

What are the chances of a deal like this next month on a Mac Mini, possible for M4 Pro Mac Mini 24Gb / 512GB for $1200 - $1300 during a sale event? A M4 pro Mac Mini 24GB/512GB for $1200 would be insanity.

    All the reviews from tech YT channels starting to come out now.

    Seems like the config sent out to them is M4 Pro 14/20, 48GB RAM and 1TB SSD. Not surprised, but means will have to wait a little longer for reviews of purchased units with other configs to come out.

      Only a lot. What i did do this time after hearing a lot about fraudulent cards is I loaded up top my phone to ensure no disappointment later. Oh, and if youre going to pay in store, be clear that youre wanting to use the gift cards loaded on your phone. (Oops. Not relevant in this case - i also bought a watch in store in this period)

        I load them up instantly as well - so I can make sure there are no faults. I also usually do this at a register with staff and explain that there have been frequent reports of tampering, they are usually respectful of this.

        Once all is added to my Apple balance, then can make the purchase through AOC.

      You have to use Parallels 19 with your v19 licence. Otherwise, it will ask for upgrade. Simply sign in to your parallels account and download v19 from there.

        V19 doesn’t work with an m4 chip. Parallels suggest the solution is to upgrade to v20(!)
        V20 appears to be firing up but I certainly won’t be paying any money for an upgrade and may become a UTM guy as ozzybrak suggests

          Of course they'll suggest for upgrade - it's their money :) I'm not sure about compatibility with M4 yet as will test later but works fine on M1 with MacOS 15.1.

    The smart people that don't make a living on the mac, buy the base and upgrade the storage when they become available.

    You need to do a restore and the restore the time machine backup but 256>1tb for $200 is just the smart way to go IMO

        Send in your MacMini, get your macmini back with the upgrade (assuming they do the re-initization for you) and just time-machine back your setup

        External USB4 is also an option and move some folders to it like APPS and DOWNLOADS

        Ill probably (carefully) remove the card and send it in to be upgraded, swap it back in and do the initialisation myself, then restore. But many will just post it and and get it back…. In a few months you might just buy the cards like the others online and either DIY or pay the local mac repair guy to do it for you

        the NO TOOL, NO DOWNTIME is just to buy a USB4 enclosure for $100ish and put in a nice 4tb $300 nVME and move some folders (youtube tells you how)

      For the price of the Mini Pro, you can build a beastly Windows PC. Only thing it will be slower at will be single core oomph but due to the modular PC design, next years Ryzen will surpass the M4 and you can just slide in the new CPU and sell the current gen Ryzen CPU. In everything apart from single core, a $2200 Windows PC will outgrunt the M4 Pro by quite a margin and running cheap 64GB Ram and 4TB M.2 SSD at 8000MB's, it will be Godly.

    I picked mine up from Chadstone with no issues… but as mentioned above.. they can follow up to check later.

    I bought it for my niece who is a uni student… and her monther is actually a teacher.
    If Apple followed up can they validate it… or did the order need to actually be in their name?

    What are these typically used for?
    I’ve read that it functions like a mobile phone connected to a monitor, but it doesn’t support Linux distributions or tools like Proxmox due to its ARM architecture. Nor is it any good for gaming or AI LLMs.
