@nadzi: Terranigmas in my top 10 games all time.
Illusion of Gaia is okay too.
If your into more modern but similar rpgs, sea of stars is nice albeit a little short, and eastward, octopath Traveler 1/2 are also exceptional RPGs.
@cobknob: It's sad Terranigma had such a limited release and attention in Australia / PAL region.
One of the most incredible narrative RPGs and the time skips were so innovative.
Also pushed the SNES to it's limited graphically.
Wish someone would release an official phone port or upgrade release
I played it for hours, I don't remember if I finished it or not. It didn't have as much story as other RPGs. I really liked the music.
I really liked the battle.
I think you could use special powers while battling right?
The original is legendary, but the remake was fairly average. I don't think they had a big budget to work with. I'd recommend the Trails of Mana remake though and the new one, Visions of Mana.
Oh i assumrd the 3d version would have had the same story line. So is the remake shorter than the original?
It's the exact same game with a bit more of the story and some cutscenes between the party when you rest at inns. The original English translation on Super Nintendo had to be cut down to fit on the cartridge.
The reason why I say it's average is because it lost the charm transitioning to 3D. They added voice acting to all characters which is very mixed in quality, the 3D models have minimal animation in their faces, so the cutscenes all look a bit stiff. There's a remixed soundtrack (which you can swap) that isn't bad, but again, it didn't improve on it.

Haven’t played Mana snes version, but have been fascinated by it - especially after completing Chrono trigger multiple times with different ending (now that’s an experience and a 100 the first time!)
(The main character in Mana snes seems to look the same as Chrono, or?)
