Yea a lot more expensive compared to $200 but personally I think the Ego mowers and their price range should be about as low as you go for battery mowers, any cheaper and you'd ideally go with petrol otherwise the downsides start to heavily outweigh the cost especially compared to petrol mowers.

I bought this mower 2 weeks ago - was stoked on the price as I saw the one for $299 and couldn't see any difference. Then, I used it. Brutal. Absolutely the biggest POS, which is saying something, as we previously had the corded 33cm Ryobi. The grass was not long (less than 5cm growth), nor is it Buffalo or anything hardcore. I had to restart it upwards of 30 times on the area I mowed, which was approximately 20msq. Not exaggerating. I gave up and left the other two thirds of the lawn and read the reviews on Product Review, which reiterated my experience. Took it back to Bunnings this past weekend and spoke to the guy and he said it's only really meant for tiny patches of grass. He suggested the $399 Brushless 18V 33cm, which I went with. Bonus: when I got to the returns desk, the cashier wrote off the $200 difference as "customer satisfaction". Christmas miracle! Husband used it Sunday and it is so much better. Just have to make sure that you have 2-3 of the large batteries fully charged ready to go.

    • Yea with the smaller mower you've gotta mow every week at the latest and ideally sooner or use a PGR to regulate growth so then you're just cutting the tips off the grass and that's it. It only really works for really well maintained lawns which most people buying an entry level mower can't be bothered doing. It only takes missing an extra week or some decent rainfall to boost growth and then you're screwed, absolutely not worth it for the effort required.

  • 18v isn't enough, I have a worx 36v twin batteries, has eco and turbo mode.i also have a petrol mower to do a deep cut once a month or so as electric is light and only starts to cut down once catcher gets fuller. But weekly mowing with the electric is light and easy and zero maintenance. I can get through relative large front and back on 2 2ah batteries in eco mode.

  • i rang multiple stores, they all tried telling me this item doesn't exist and this thread is a fraud…. I explained it's probably a deleted line hence why it's not showing and if I had to guess you'll find it on the floor with a markdown sign…. nope, not one staff member could muster up a brain cell to actually have a look…. ended up driving to my local store at maroochydore…. what do you know, 10 boxes sitting there with a heap of other ryobi gear on sale… completely useless is an understatement…

  • At that price you are buying a new battery & charger for $100 and they throw in an almost useless mower for $99.
My mate has an 18V Stihl mower that he used for a few years. Moved house and ended up buying 2nd hand petrol mower for $100 as the battery one was useless

  • I bought the $899 brushless 36v Ryobi self propelled mower from Bunnings, managed to mow for 15 or so minutes before it refused to start - some safety mechanism inside it had tripped.

Took it back for a refund, so much for my first foray into the world of battery driven mowers.

Wasn't overly impressed with the cutting ability of the Ryobi for the short time it was running to be honest, probably a good thing I had to take it back and ended up with a cheaper new petrol driven 4 bladed mower instead.

With the mowers, the stock count includes the display stock which Bunnings won’t typically sell to you.

I would only go to a store with at least 2 items available.
