Hi ozbargainers - man I missed this place! Been away with work and I see there's lotsa deals for me to catch up on. Anyway just a quick post from me - as usual have left the xmas shopping till way too late this year with work hectic-ness but managed to nab some good deals to share. Got the linked Wireless1 newsletter advertising Syma s107g r/c helicopters for $29 and 7" android 4.0 tablets for $98 (which was also available in pink amongst the usual black, blue etc.) so went in today and got the nephews and nieces presents sorted - even managed to work the price down a bit but then I did buy 6 helis and 2 pink tablets so YMMV.

From a few quick searches online it was the cheapest I could find for local legit Syma stock. It's cheaper overseas but if you need it now like me this is the best I could find in Oz. I've got an original Syma myself and it has outlasted all my cheap ebay knock offs so worth spending a few $$ more for the sturdier construction of an original (you will inadvertently ram these things into walls from time to time).

The Tablets I can't comment much, had a play with one in the store and it seemed pretty good for price/specs and the fact it also came in pink sold me - nieces rejoice. It was also in black, blue, red etc.

They also had a pile of Huawei U8150 android phones which were $59 and IIRC they were unlocked which might be useful to some.

One more thing that caught my eye was this ASUS laptop which I thought was pretty good for $899 i7 quad with 8GB ram, bluray combo, 750GB HDD, 2GB graphics card. But it is 1366 x 768 which I know is a dealbreaker for some here (fine for me as I use external monitors for most of the time). Quick search shows MSY is doing it for similar price but others are $1089+. Haven't decided on the notebook just yet so if there's another awesome deal on let me know!

Also they seem to be doing sitewide free postage which should be useful for those out of the Parramatta/Sydney area.

Anyway gotta run, still at work. Sorry for being light on specs and details unlike usual but I gotta run - most of the info you'll find via the linked newsletter. Any questions just post and I'll try to check this thread. Happy holidays folks!

  • I assume this is the Asus notebook in question?

    • yessir, you got me before the edit! have also linked the newsletter in the body.

  • +1

Tablet looks severely budget, looks like a single core. I've only had experience with one single core tablet which had a 1.0Ghz proc, and I have to say it works fine for everything except browsing, which is totally hopeless. Anyone else experience this?

  • Very good price on the Asus notebook. asusnotebooks.com.au were selling a refurbished N53SV for $529 not so long ago. This N56VM is brand new, has a faster processor (2.3-3.3 GHz vs 2.0-2.9), larger hard drive (750GB vs 500), better graphics (2GB VRAM vs 1GB), and more memory (8GB vs 6).

  • Do you have a equally good price on a 4 CH copter?

  • The helicopter is under More Products > Remote Control Toys > Radio Control Planes & Helicopters, and also doesn't state that it is IR remote controller. To me this is misleading. Please state that it is infact 3 channel infrared remote controlled helicopter.

    • ccrap isn't a rep, what do you expect him to do about it?

      • You are right. My bad.
