typos on the Samsung 840 Pro, fixed up

We are offering mad prices everytime we post :).

    • +4

Sandisk SSDs - those prices are among the lowest delivered prices we ever offered

      • +7

        GO LOWER!!!!!!!! :)

Thanks vid_ghost! Keep fighting the good fight.

Guys, seriously, have an option for next business day shipping if you can. Some people may be willing to pay extra. Your prices + Express shipping is still way cheaper than local stores at times.

    • Especially since we're this close to Christmas. :(

    • +2

Express shipping is something we would like to have in the future, but right now, this deal will more suit last minute shoppers not too far from us.

      • +4

        All I can say is…

        Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :'(

    • +1

2pm AEDT is our cutoff time for same day dispatch, Be quick!

      • Hehe… I'm taking a gamble. Bought what I wanted (2x SSDs). Hoping Auspost performs a miracle. ;)

        • +2

dont count on it. they are pretty useless

        • +1

True that. This definitely needs a meme :P

EDIT: I got negg'd for this? There is an Auspost fanboy in our midst.

        • +6

No it just wasn't a great meme.

          (I didn't neg)

And all your bases belongs to Australia Post.
Dont bag out Aus post, it makes the best graphics car~insurance.

I'm a hills hoist fanboy.. it drys clothes the more reliably, i got for reliability VS performance

        • +1

I wasn't aware there were fanboys for mail services.
          Kids these days.

Lost my parcel last time, and since Australia Post dun require signature, I can do nothing abt it. Just bad luck, possibly someone else took my staff, and how am I gonna find out? It like instantly consume around $100 for nothing. So choose delivery insurance as an option!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • +1

          Hehe.. Nice!

I must admit I had some pretty awful experiences with Auspost. However, way OT for this so I won't go into it. :)

        • In situations like this what proof is there that Aust Post even collected the item from the seller? There is absolutely none afaik???

Go with the insurance to ensure delivery.

Just came to sing their praises; got a 256Gb 830 last round. It came super quick, before I even got a tracking number (pretty sure it was next business day or something that I got it, over the weekend). Disk is up and running and working beautifully. Will shop with these guys again soon hopefully :)

    • thanks mate :).

    • Same experience here. Thanks! :D

  • extreme or 830. hmmm, which one would be best for work and some play?

    • Samsung 830. I went with them because of the good local support that Samsung typically provide.

edit: part of me reply wasn't showing

  • Should I go the Sandisk or the Samsung 120gb for a HTPC?

    • The Samsung is definately faster, but that will make very little difference for a HTPC. Only exception might be copying videos to it however:

1: I expect you will be using a larger magnetic drive for this.

2: You have to copy the data /from/ somewhere, which is often slower anyway.

      • Thanks mate

      • The only Samsung which is 120gb is the 840 non pro which would be slower and less reliable than the Sandisk.

  • I haven't yet received the 256GB Samsung 830 I ordered last Friday, posted to Melbourne Inner Suburbs. Perhaps Australia Post is slow right now due to the Christmas rush.

    • Received it today! No signature; not sure if the postman even knocked - just found it on the front step. I suppose that's free shipping. I'd prefer to have tracking for >$100 items!

  • Thanks, just ordered the 120GB sandisk, hopefully it ships today!

  • how long is this deal for? i have to work out how much i want to overspend this xmas.

    • Deal ends on 23-12-12, but our last day of dispatching before christmas is tomorrow. Orders after tomorrow will not leave our warehouse until after christmas.

  • For $4 more is it worth getting the 250gb 840 over the 256gb 830?
Specs say 840 has more cache memory, marginally faster read speeds & slower write speeds. Common sense would say newer model is better though…

    • +1

Probably not. The 830 was split into two new models, the 840 and 840 Pro. The base 840 is generally lesser when compared to the 830, the 840 Pro is the real following model.

  • Has anyone ever received this email??
"When our orders are dispatched, you will receive an auto-generated email from us indicating the courier company we used, as well as the associated tracking number."

    • Nope. From what I can gather, all orders placed today should have been dispatched by now (its 3:33 PM AEDT). Didn't get any email either. Or it may take a little while for them to send the emails out.

      • Ordered a drive last saturday… no email only receipt. Status at site says dispatched.
        Wait & see…??

        • +2

Orders made before 2pm should all be dispatched by this evening 5:xx.
We will update your orders to dispatched once it has been collected by Australia Post and the manifest submitted.

If in any time, you feel there might be some issue with your order, you still can reach us at 02-83388899 or [email protected] to request someone to follow up for you. During this Christmas period, please give Australia Post 1 to 2 working days' grace period, before checking it out with us.

All good… arrived this afternoon (wed).
AP left pkg at door and did not even press door bell :-(
          Installed and working well :-)
They sure are small and very light.
          Mounted using velcro stickers.
Thanks SE (might order another for the mrs puter now)

purchased at 3PM, hopefully they dispatch today! Keen as a bean for mah new SSD.

Funny thing is, I was actually searching for SSD's this morning and was about to buy the same model for $210.

Refreshed OZB, BOOM… Must be a sign from the OZB gods.

  • whats difference between 840 and 830?

  • Anyone get a dispatch notice yet?

  • My order has been set to Dispatched but I have yet to receive an email notice nor does the shoppingexpress site list the tracking number. Fingers crossed it'll arrive tomorrow!

    • Where does it say?

      • You need to login. The ShoppingExpress website orders section should have a status saying "Dispatched". You can also retrieve your tracking number from there.

Edit: If you didn't create an account, then use this:
        https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/_myacct/nr_track_order

        • Oh, thanks! Just says Not Available for the two boxes… Dang.

        • Thanks for explaining about the tracking.

          To summarize:

If you did not receive any notification for some reason, you still can track your order status, as well as the tracking number for it by:

          1. login to your shoppingexpress account

          2. (if you are not using registered account), follow link below to track"
            https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/_myacct/nr_track_order

          Kind Regards
          Shopping Express

        • I had a bit of a misconception there. The actual shipment/consignment reference is not over there. I tried using the Order# in auspost just to make sure and it didn't work. Consignment reference please? :)

        • Seriously guys, where is the consignment/tracking reference for the order?

        • +2

Mine isn't even marked as dispatched yet… Ordered yeaterday and paid via PayPal.

        • +2

          Hi guys,

Sorry for the late reply. If you could message me your order id so i can follow up.

          Regards

          danblar,

I did a check on our backend and apparently all orders were dispatched for yesterday and day before, except for some orders using direct deposit where payment have not been confirmed, so i advise you to message me your order number to have a look for you.

          cheers

          Shopping Express

        • How come I get no tracking information off this….. =="

still haven't received mine.. sent email..

        • Same boat.

  • so the 830's have a 3 year warranty…

What happens if the drive fails in that time? Is it a supplier RMA? or back to Shopping Express?

  • Most ppl do not pay attention to the Random Read n Random Write which are much more important than the theoretical Read Speed and Write speed

In this benchmark http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/532?vs=678, it does show 840 much twice faster than 830 when loading 4KB files which are almost the case of HDD has to do, loading a program with thousands of small few KB files.

Read n Write speed up to 500MB/s is just applicable for transferring Large GB files to/from storage devices.

And for sure 840 Pro is definitely better but its too far expensive

  • Bought the 1tb iomega nas for $79 and the sandisk 120gb for $89 as a scratch disk. Great prices, thanks S.EX.
edit: bought late last night and shipped this morning. Like this seller.

  • Received my Samsung 830 SSD just then (I'm in Sydney)! It was addressed from KS Computer in Stanmore.

Saw a Warranty Void If Removed sticker on the box and thought it was a tempered with (seriously, who puts that on a retail box?) but that's how Samsung rolls!

    Not my pic: http://i48.tinypic.com/73cln4.jpg

  • Trying to buy the SanDisk 120GB $89 but no free shipping??

EDIT: had to re-apply the coupon code!

  • Just got mine - registered it on Samsung Australia, but it says it's out of warranty. What gives? Is this not Australian stock?

    • Hi kwchaz,

We only sell Australian Stock and everything is brand new.
You can send a ticket to us so we can follow up for you. Please put your order number on title and provide what is happening to you (include serial number) so we can assist you more efficiently. However, we/Samsung will have limited customer support during this period, so the response might take longer some days.

    • Hey what does the warranty registration mean to look like?

I've registered mine… but the warranty period says today… ==

  • Mine says out of warranty too… gonna call samsung up and ask
