  • Great price for the XXL 540.

Just be aware this model doesn't qualify for the TomTom free lifetime maps offer: http://www.tomtompromotion.com/maps/AU

  • +2

pay extra $40 and get Navman MY300LMT GPS Navigator + lifetime map..it's much better one
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/hot-deals/navman-my300lmt-gps…

    • The MY300LMT gets terrible reviews though - I haven't found ANY good reviews yet. Many Whirlpool users are fairly unhappy with theirs:

EDIT: BTW I went to buy a Navman for a friend the other day at DSE and JB, they said they only had repaired or faulty ones in stock. They don't last more than a few months from what the salespeople were telling me. This seems to be supported by plenty of bad reviews online at various websites.

    • The reviews for that on whirlpool are less than flattering: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1968646

    • I would rather this ancient Tomtom than a Navman. Former Dick Smith employee; the Navmans (Navmen?) were nothing but trouble. Tomtoms, apart from needing a software reset every now and then, were probably the most reliable.

Regardless, this GPS is very old now, even though our one (bought Nov/Dec 2010) has been serving us excellently.

    • I have a Garmin, a Navman and a TomTom

      Guess what?

Navman is just a piece of trash

Anyone knows whether this is a good GPS?

    • I'm using via 280
      pretty good.
      don't ever get a navman…

      • Thanks, I used one of the Tom Tom GPS in New Zealand and found it to be very user friendly, just can't remember the model no. Currently use a GPS bought from ebay (unbranded one) and it is really shit.

    • last time I bought tomtom from dick, i think its a faulty one, it keeps restarting while driving.I rang tomtom cust rep and they didn't help me at all, they said they didn't find any problem so no need to repair or replace it.what a poor service! Harvey is more reliable and flexible than dick…

  • I have this GPS, bricked last week after attempting a map upgrade.

Support has been helpful, but nothing has worked so far. I was 3 weeks out of warranty!

  • my experience with both navman and current tomtom are ok(tomtom is better though), but they tend to drop out in cbd really badly and make you do all sorts of turns until its better to switch off and get maps on phone and track:(

that tomtom with bluetooth for $129 seems nice buy, dunno if it works well with android phones

  • I bought this a while from a 1 hr DSE sale, I've always preferred TomTom.
For the technically minded - the last of the FAT32 models, so relatively easily modded for downloaded maps.
Although this is getting slightly harder for recent maps (NZ included).
Probably my last SatNav with more modern cars having them as standard
