Just do it if you're on the fence. I got this one last time during the Black Friday sales and am really pleased with the quality of the item. It blows our old Hoover Freejet out of the water.

    It's actually $468 at Harvey

      Thanks Gerry.

      • And that's HN's Xmas special price. The RRP at HN is $549!

        • The RRP at HN is $549!

Which is the same price the Dyson website is selling it for. What's your point?

  • How is warranty handled with this product? I know Dyson Australia won't take it since it's overseas stock.

Would this be sent back to Amazon US? With shipping paid by US?

    • +8

No local warranty, you pay shipping if a problem. I actually received mine doa from amazon France, called Dyson here, they confirmed no warranty - took it in to get fixed since I needed it, when I went to collect it I asked how much, the guy said "this is still under warranty", so I grabbed it and walked out.

      • This one is listed as DC44 Digital Slim Mk2, so if it is not a model that is available in Australia it will be harder to get away with a free warranty repair.

  • what's the advantage of these over the regular dysons? wouldn't those be more powerful? need a new vacuum and have no idea about these new style dysons.

    • If you don't have a massive house
      or
If you don't like the cord
      it's a great choice.

It is small but very powerful for the size

This is more like a big powerful dustbuster than a full on vaccuum cleaner. I do like the idea that you don't have to bend down to use it though.

  • I'm very tempted to get one… Hmmm

    • Do it, you won't regret it.

I've spent too much money this month… :'(

remember boxing day sales in 3 more days , you may be able to score one locally for ~ $400 with local warranty since HN have them for ~ $450

    • Not sure about other retailers, but I just got back from HN. Their boxing day / xmas special for this product is still steady at $468. Their original RRP is $549! What a rip off… the RRP is almost double the price of this deal, and it includes shipping from US!

I think I'm going for this deal, unless others can find it for ~$400 locally as you have suggested.

I hardly use the bigger Dyson nowadays. This is more convenient. Got it on the last Amazon deal - 3 days delivery.

  • Do u need a additional transformer with this ?

    • +1

Nope, just need a plug adaptor. This is 110-240v

  • Went to checkout and it said: AUD 318.98 + Shipping & Handling: AUD 31.37 = Total: AUD 350.35. How do you get $338 delivered as noted in title?

    • +1

You first choose US Currency when paying, and secondly you use the 28% Mastercard, Citibank Debit Card, etc with no Currency Fees and you get the $US/$AUS rate of the day ie. 1.0398 which equals the $338AU you will be charged.

      • +1

Good tip. I have a Citibank Plus account so it should work out the same. I will check that out.

PS I find I have to go nearly to the end of the checkout process to find out what the postage is going to be at Amazon. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better way?

        • No, that's how Amazon works - the idea being, you commit to having it and THEN they tell you "Oh, it's an extra $50 postage btw!" or whatever - Marketing techniques.

Pitty the Animal dropped off. I just purchased a DC39 Allergy for $700 (with a soft dusting brush) after "shopping" (aka) calling around all the local brick and mortars for a better price. Even at the massive $700 fee it has made a difference that has already paid for itself.

Im tempted, but have no where to store it… I got the Animal DC39 from the UK for $399 (thanks Ozbargain) and used it for the first time yesterday. I was actually running round the house with the canister thing showing my family how much dirt and hair was in their rooms. Awesome to be able to vacuum under beds without having to move them. It gets in all the little nooks that my old upright couldn't.

  • Purchased this also during the Black Friday sales, haven't looked back since. I'm able to Vaccum my 4BR tiled home on normal setting and two rugs on Max setting during the one charge.

  • Picked one of these up for mum for Xmas the other day at Bing lee got it down to $435. I personally have the dc35 animal and it does wonders light weight and really powerful perfect for the little spills or it could even vacuum a whole medium/small home. The dc35 battery lasts 15mins but on the dc44 its 20mins. If I was you guys I'd wait till boxing day sales try and grab one than so you have no hassles with warranty.

  • Dyson vacuums are one of the things I don't really mind forking out a bit more for - their products are fantastic and last for years!

If only I could afford an Airblade in my bathroom… Hmmmm

  • I got one during the last Amazon deal. Came to about $330 delivered.
Great unit, so convenient and quick for the house and car. Normal suction seems to pick up everything so I haven't needed to activate the super suction. I do notice mine occasionally shuts off randomly while I'm vacuuming even though I haven't released the trigger. I can easily get it going again by releasing the trigger and pressing again but it's just weird this is happening.
    Anyone else notice this?

    • Mine also does this very annoying

      • I don't have any problem like that.

    • Clean out your rotating brush head and it will work normally again. :)

  • It wont allow me to order. Came up with this #We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order#
Anyone know how to fix this?

    • Refer to my post in selling/swapping. I have ordered one which I am not keen on taking.

  • At Costco it's about 430. And the best warranty/after sales service in retail business. Dysons are good but not reliable enough to justify the 80 bucks savings buying it from overseas. I've owned two and both died young despite casual use. My lg vac is as good and reliable. This canister is also tiny, heaps of emptying…

  • is it just me or Amazon don't ship DC44 to AUS anymore?
