Amazon delivery guy places deliveries blocking the door from opening
I have contacted Amazon previously and keeps happening, has that happened to you?
I'm talking 10cm from the door way so that the door can not swing out
Amazon delivery guy places deliveries blocking the door from opening

I'm talking 10cm from the door way so that the door can not swing out
cannot swing out because the package is blocking it
I am suggesting he push the package away
critical thinking must be hard for you
Without a MS Paint diagram from OP. I'm going out on a limb here and assume that the package itself is preventing the door from opening all the way to get out of the house.
@ricadam: +1 for MS Paint diagram
That’s too soon… should have waited khaby lame to make a video about it.
lol
You can put notes in the delivery address and ask them not to block the door. Also you can put a chair or something outside with a sign to tell them to leave packages ect own the table
You can put notes in the delivery address
I can tell you only one or two diligent drivers will take care to check the Delivery Instructions ("Notes").
The rest are all dump and leave.
Customer support has previously advised me that only the Amazon delivery drivers can see the notes. Most deliveries we get here (Gold Coast) are delivered by 3rd party drivers who do not have access.
I get packages delivered to the office as they can't be left securely outside my house, and 50% of they time they will try to deliver after 17:00, even though the delivery address has between 8:00–17:00. This has gone on for over a week for some packages, with them attempting every 2nd day.
Never had a screen door?
I used to do that for Domino's during covid - I put a chair outside, and added delivery instructions to leave the order there. This was when they had a zero-contact delivery policy, requiring all this extra stuff. Delivery guys would always walk right past the chair and rock up the door, expecting to hand the boxes directly to me.
I put a note in front of the door to place deliveries in a different location & the driver put the delivery on top of the sign!
That was so sad.
I saw the funeral on the news…
Unless you are getting Grand Pianos delivered I imagine it will be fairly easy to push the box out of the way as you open the door?
easy to push the box out
What about 3 boxes of 12x1.25l drinks?
I'm assuming either OP only has 1 exit, or there's a massive walk from the other exit to the front (TLDR: OP's lazy).
It's not just Amazon that do this. So many deliveries of food are dropped right against the door. It sucks that it's hard to give deliverers 1 star.
I've lived in apartments with only 1 door. Could jump off the balcony but you'd likely break your legs.
Yeah, happens to me too sometimes
@#FirstWorldProb….
How intelligent are these delivery people? Don’t block the person into their house. Job done.
It's a box of Pepsi Max and the door isn't of the highest quality so I need to get on the floor and bend my hand under and push it away, also what happens if there is a fire / need a quick escape
I mean, no need to be drastic. The probability of a fire and Amazon delivering a heavy box at the same time is quite unlikely. You have better chances winning the lotto.
You can put notes and state to not leave it Infront of the door and put it to the side.
You have better chances winning the lotto.
people win Lotto all the time!
Your building doesn't have a second entranceway that you can use? Surely that's a building code requirement.
Leave a sign.
Stop ordering giant stacks of fizzy drink from Amazon.
Or…. post on OzBargain.
Ever been to an apartment unit?
You think that apartment buildings only have a single entrance?
@rumblytangara: I was referring to the actual unit, not the building.
@Love a bargain: Think about it. Individual apartment doors open inwards.
@rumblytangara: Not if you also have a screen door - they open outward.
@rumblytangara: I've lived in buildings where the units only have a single entrance, and the building itself has a lobby with only a single entrance.
Use your foot to support the door at the point of contact
Stop drinking cases of soft drink.
It's a box of Pepsi Max …
100 per cent deliberate… any cux that orders multiple cartons of water, soft drink etc gets the same treatment..
What
Drivers deliberately place heavy items against the door.
@randomusername2017: Why? And what is cux
@brendanm: Cux probably flex slang for customer.
Maybe too heavy ..who knows.
Definitely deliberate if it's carried the extra distance and placed against the door.
@randomusername2017: You were th one who made the statement, and used the word cux, so I assumed you would know why, and what the word meant.
@rumblytangara: Yeah, pretty specific niche to target though 😂
Easy, just don't order Pepsi Max from Amazon. Or even better, stop drinking soft drink that much.
also what happens if there is a fire / need a quick escape
You push the door without caring if you damage it because the fire will do much more damage
Use water. Not sure if Pepsi will work.
Yes, all the time. They seem to like to put it right in front of the door or in the corner where my door swings out, so the door can't open!@!
Next weeks post: Amazon delivery guy places deliveries to the side of my front door which I don't see and I think my packages have been stolen!!
You only have the one door?
OP lives in a shed
You only have the one door?
Many public housing apartments do.
So do many private, even multi-million $, ones
Amazon don't care. They will use the cheapest delivery company they can fine, who tend to subcontract to other people, so you rarely get a consistent delivery person. Catch them in the act or leave a sign of some sort and hope they can read. I left specific instructions and the Amazon guy said he can't understand them.
Amazon generally contracts these drivers directly and does follow the standard industry protocols. Also, they pay their drivers better than most others in the industry.
One negative experience and you have resorted to some grandstanding but untrue generalisations.
Amazon don't care.
So you are saying they are careless ?
We have a parcel chute that can fit large parcels. I have a sign instructing couriers to use it, and another sign telling them where to pull to open it. In the last month, I have had delivery people from Amazon
Separately but related, I have also had 2 deliveries from Amazon declared "lost" (posted, but lost well before they reached my home). I had to chase them for a refund (which should have been automatic). Their service has been shocking lately.
Why do you think they should be obligated to follow your instructions? It would be ideal no doubt but customer service is not high on their list as sub contractors
They need to leave things in a safe place, which they haven't been doing. And I actually saw how one driver couldn't even be bothered to get out - he opened his window, and threw it 6 metres through the air across my gate. Shame my camera didn't capture it.
What’s a safe place outside?
@Dollar General: My parcel chute is safe, which is why my Amazon delivery instructions tell them to use it. Once placed inside, it cannot easily be stolen, which is the whole point.
@Make it so: I think you're breaching the Prime Directive there
Had a similar problem. It seems like these delivery drivers live in houses with no doors (or sliding doors). Obviously lacking in customer service skills is why you want to just dump and disappear.
Likely they're from countries where the houses have no doors.. or showers.
Amazon Delivery Guy Places Deliveries Blocking The Door from Opening
Are you out yet or still stuck in your apartment.
Maybe contact the fire brigade?
Mine likes to drop packages off in the driveway. Have complained multiple times. ☹️
Easy solution. Grab a Reolink doorbell in the next sale. Once installed, set the push notifications up. On your next delivery yell at the driver as he approaches your door.
Build a second door outside of your first door, but make the second door one that opens inwards.
Sense, you do not make it?
So now I have three doors inny outty inny
But how do you open the first door which opens outwards and will be blocked by the second door which opens inwards?
You build the second door at least a door width away from the first door
Yes they are left in up against the front of the door if tbe drivers make it that far out of their car. 10% ring the doorbell.
I have contacted Amazon previously and keeps happening, has that happened to you?
No because most doors open inward. Maybe you are on the wrong side of the door
You need to think a little strategic, create a house of mirrors in front of the door and wait
Whilst my wooden front door opens inwards, the security screen door opens outwards.
As IP has highlighted that it is not good quality, it may be that it is just a screen door and not a stronger security design.
I see a pointless door, lucky you :)
Nearly every house in Australia has screen doors so can't be that pointless
So which one is pointless, the woden door that keeps the rain and wind out, or the security door that allows the air through but not bugs, animals or people?
Constantly. To go around via another door is possible but I have to either go through a heavily locked gate, or through the roller door out onto the street and back into the front yard (corner block for you smart arses). I have in my notes to please leave the parcels behind the wall where they cannot be seen and not in front of the door or it cannot be opened. Last week I had a guy dump and run in the middle of the porch, only to turn back and move them behind the wall. First time I've ever seen them do that!
It happens all the time at both my house and my mum and dad's house.
The couriers have no concept of customer service and don't care about anyone but themselves. It's not just Amazon either. Couriers from every company do it now.
There's no point in complaining because as you can see by the comments above, it's not going to help.
Delivery drivers get paid minimum. Sometimes 2$ per package. Unfortunately it dosent give them time to say hello to you or wish you a good day. This is the same issue with postie's.
Get a big door mat - they don't tend to put parcels on ours.
Just speak to the guy or leave a big sign!
Im just GLAD they DELIVER IT SO FAST. I THANK the delivery person for his SERVICE.
put a skateboard outside with a sign for couriers to put the package on it so 'porch pirates' have a handy means of getaway.
OP got Pepsi delivered ? Maybe he/she is too big to get through the door opening lol
so you suggesting everyone that drinks Pepsi is fat?
Yes
Pepsi Max, known for its high calories and sugar counts.
Did you buy a fridge from Amazon? Bloody thoughtless delivery guy!
Wait until you learn what Uber Eats / Menulog drivers do….
Lol I put a note on my orders saying 'gate is unlocked, please put food in box on doorstep'. I put out the box, with a note on it saying 'please put food here'.
Lucky to get 10% hit rate…
Minimum wage minimum effort.
Next time order Coke not Pepsi. Thank me later.
I'd be upset if they left my coke order unattended at my door, especially on a windy day
Happened some times for me. I have to get out from garage to clear the woolies deliveries.
how can a box of pepsi block your door??
All the time my front door opens fully 90 degrees upon where it will butt up against my house wall, when something is placed there it wedges between door n brick wall , no way to open it. Yes i have back door leading to my rear yard, but not to the front yard so have to climb over the wall.
Is that a screen door? As i have not seen a main door / garage entry door that swings out to open
Yup screen door
Yes all the time and unable to open the screen door , Amazon, Cole’s, woolies , except Aust post, they ring the doorbell and hand to me
Knock/push the package over?
