60% off LG NanoCell NANO81 TV Range (e.g. 86" $1399) Delivered @ LG Corporate/Edu VIP Program (VIP Membership Required)

810

Does an 86" TV for $1260 sound good?

NANO81TSA TV range @60% off via the LG Edu/Corporate VIP Program

Update:
86" and 65" models getting sold out for various postcodes.
See comments for examples of how to get VIP pricing. Signing up with corporate or edu email and then https://www.lg.com/au/my-account/upgrade-to-vip/ seems to be the way.
As per my understanding, it's similar to any other Corporate program where you must be an employee of a company that has this loyalty discount partnership. Education pricing seems to be same too.

Lower-end LED, but appears good value for money at this price.

  • Extra 10% off coupon by asking chat.
  • Alternative - $50 welcome coupon for new users. Coupons don't seem to stack
  • Possible cashback with Topcashback, Shopback or Cashrewards
  • Free delivery on most postcodes.

Pricing

60Hz display with à5 processor
  • 55" $579 ($521.1 with coupon)
  • 65" $719 ($647.1 with coupon)
  • 75" $919 ($827.1 with coupon)
120Hz display with à8 processor
  • 86" $1399 ($1259.1 with coupon). Cheaper than the previous deal on a lower spec model after coupon or cashback.

              • @lokki22: Do you know if the 10% discount code through chat is a 1 time use? Would you mind posting the code? I’ve just noticed ShopBack have 5.6% cashback, but only until 26th Jan, so I wouldn’t be able to stack codes if I wait until the online chat opens on Tuesday. Thanks

                • @CaptainM: The 10% off code is one-time use only. I tried to use the code I was given for a second purchase and it said no.

  • How good are these tvs - mid range or entry level?

    • -2

      They're terrible. IPS garbage.

      • Lolwut. IPS is garbage how?

  • I made an account using an edu email … but not seeing any special pricing in the cart … what did I miss?

    • Having the same problem, maybe offer is over

      • Seems that way

    • I followed this set of instructions to upgrade my account to VIP:
      https://www.lg.com/hk_en/promotions/vip-upgrade-guide/
(It's for HK, but the steps are the same)

Basically, after you sign up with an .edu account, in "My Account", a button to upgrade appears near the bottom. Click that and continue.

      • I signed up via this link: https://www.lg.com/au/partners/signup/

It verified I was using an edu email. I validated my email by clicking on the link.

I don't see an option for "upgrade to VIP" under my account.

        • +1

I did exactly the same steps as you. You may have to log out and back in etc. It didn't show for me initially.
          Try here maybe? https://www.lg.com/au/partners/my-account/

          • @highwind: How long ago did you sign up?

I don't see the "Upgrade to VIP" option under 2 new edu accounts I created. I do see the $50 off coupon under both account now - it took ~30min for that to show up.

            • @salmon123: Around that time. But are you looking at My LG, or My Account? It's a mess of a website, but it was in My Account (the page with your email / phone number etc). It appeared between "Address Book" and "Terms and Conditions"

              • @highwind: Okay - I see the "upgrade to VIP" … took ~40mins … but still no change in pricing after upgrading.

          • +1

@highwind: @highwind - Thank you so much! this worked for me.

        • +1

Use the Desktop version if on Chrome Mobile.

Anyway, whats the VIP code that we can use guys?

  • Damn it missed….

  • Still showing for me. Check out the LG spin and win deal post here for info on how to sign up for VIP.

Cheap option but I think the screen quality would annoy me. Those spin and win vouchers also apply.

Here is the code to upgrade to VIP
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/799614 but no idea if that code still works

This is review of 2020 version, the model here looks to be from 2024. I saw there are some reviews on LG website for this current one at bottom of page

  • -3

LG IPS is a shit panel. Avoid. Don't waste your 1300

    • +5

I would agree if it was full price. But for $1260 for a 86” 4k tv with free delivery, it is a pretty good deal. I don’t think you’ll find any other equivalent, even with an IPS panel close to this price.

    • Whoever downvoted this comment has quite clearly never owned a TV with an IPS panel. They are exactly as described, shit.

      • +3

I own an IPS panel TV and it’s good for the price I paid for it. Yes there are better options out there, but you get what you pay for, and at this price, it’s a good deal imo.

      • +2

There's a lot of kids here who think IPS monitor ftw but that's not what you want for your big tv

  • Random question but would this allow me to connect 2 x Bluetooth earbuds at the same time? Want to watch shows with my wife and not wake up my toddler

  • +2

Would love an explanation on why IPS is “shit” as people are claiming here. I’ve had a bunch of IPS displays over the years that were all great. Eg: macbook pro displays until 2021, lots of gaming monitors etc. all with great viewing angles, decent response times up to 160 hz or more, accurate colour and uniformity. Sure it’s no OLED, but it’s not trying to be at this price. Or is it just this particular panel is crap?

  • +2

For those wondering how to upgrade to vip,

sign up with a edu account then go to https://www.lg.com/au/my-account/upgrade-to-vip/
    click upgrade to vip

  • Will this be a better or worse picture than my 9 year old Panasonic TH65CS610A.

People talk about viewing angle of this TV, I had a look at my Panasonic, no matter what angle you go to it still looks the same. I don't care about viewing angle though, what about brightness, colours, blacks etc. As long as it's the same or better than my current TV I'm happy.

  • Anyone know what times the live chat actually works? Says 9am-9pm AEST in some places, 8am-8pm and 9am-5pm in others … but keep getting a closed message.

  • Insane deal, well done, upgraded from a 2015 TV to this for $2100 off is nuts

    • Did you get a 10% off coupon as well?

      • Nah I pulled the trigger last night as it was out of hours for chat support

So I just used the $50 welcome to get it for $1349
Good thing I did though, at 10pm last night, it said out of stock for my postcode, didn't wanna risk it til chat opened in the morning

        • Cool. Asking as some people in comments didn't have any luck getting one anyways.

  • Saying temporary out of stock on line even know it says in stock when looking at item and specs…..says contact them for further details

    • +1

I can see the 86" for my postcode. 65" seems OOS.

      • Yeah the 86 says in stock online but when i checkout it wont let me pay and says temporary out of stock

        • +1

It is letting me checkout for my postcode. It gives the same message to me for 65" and 50" models.

          • @archieduh: Ahh ok thanks it must be my Vic postcode…i have emailed them and awaiting an update on when back in stock. I missed it by 20 minutes but it was the mess around i got between live and getting sent to phone sales team and then back to online chat for extra discount and then finallly got code but when went to purchase message came up

  • Any hints for VIP codes?

  • If you didn't get the 10% coupon via chat, shopback+ has upsized cashback @8%, not sure if it will work with VIP pricing but nothing in T&C says so.

  • Do you think the 75 inch fpr $827.1 is a worth while purchase or try and wait for the 86 to come back in stock for.my poatcode? Currently have a 75 inch EKO and looking to upgrade

    • I do think 75 is a worthy choice at this price unless you game and need the 120Hz.
The 86" is more than 50% more expensive than the 75". Won't be surprised if by then end of the year you do get similar deals for 86", at that point you can probably Gumtree the 75" one.

To add, I bought the 86" and then the math that it's $430 more expensive didn't sit well so I cancelled that order and ordered the 75".

  • Has anyone received their TV yet or shipping info? How is it that every appliance shop in Sydney can deliver next day but LG/Samsung take their sweet time about it.

    • Mine could have been delivered today (2 days).
But I chose tomorrow. Got a DHL SMS to schedule delivery.

    • I'm based in Sydney and I still haven't received any. Did anyone else get their shipping info yet? Ordered on 22nd.

      • Nope - no shipping update.

I cancelled this morning and bought a Chiq 85" from Harvey Norman. The inbuilt Google TV, 5 year warranty and next day delivery all seems like good wins over the LG.

  • Pulled the trigger on the 43inch for $349 ($399- $50sign up) +/- 3% Topcashback if it works.

I received my order today and had requested installation. When the TV was delivered, the delivery team asked me to sign all the paperwork before commencing with installation, which I did. After I signed, they removed the top section of the packaging, placed it back in their truck, and drove away, leaving us with the TV standing in the bottom section of the box. They didn’t complete the installation as requested.

Upon inspection, I discovered that the remote, stand, and manual were missing.

I became suspicious and tested the TV, only to find that the screen was faulty. I’ve spent the entire day on the phone and live chat with LG, but they’re claiming it’s a non-manufacturing fault and are refusing to replace or repair it. They’re blaming me because I mentioned that I mounted the TV on the wall after testing it (since it didn’t come with a stand). Despite explaining that I did this to protect the TV and that installation was supposed to be included, they continue to imply it’s my fault.

The call centre has been incredibly unhelpful, just going around in circles without providing any resolution. I’m sharing this to warn others to make sure to thoroughly test your TV before the delivery team leaves and check that all the contents (remote, stand, manual) are included in the box before signing any delivery paperwork.

I would be interested to know if anyone else has a similar experience as I have never experienced anything like this before.

    • +2

the remote and the other bits is on the top section of the packaging. this is how I got mine when I got my 75"

      • +1

Thanks for that, that explains why those bits are missing, because they took the top section with them!

    • +1

They didn’t complete the installation as requested.

That's because they don't offer installation on TVs.

      https://www.lg.com/au/delivery-service/

Free Installation: Only available on Washing Machines, Dryers and Fridges purchased on the LG Online Store and selected delivery areas listed in the T&Cs. Basic installation using parts supplied with appliance(s). Excludes alterations to your home (such as carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work). Eligible product(s) will not be installed if there is no pre-existing power and plumbing (if applicable) required for connection. Only product packaging will be removed. For more info click Terms of Sale

The fault you are describing, does it look like this?

      • I selected the installation option, and it’s clearly stated in the paperwork.

As for the TV, it looks normal when turned off, but when switched on, there are lines across the panel, and cracks appear. The TV doesn’t start up at all. It seems like the internal part of the panel is damaged or faulty, but there are no signs of external damage.

    • I also have an issue with small dents in my screen. I posted on the other chat here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/889932#comment-16238370 How did you go with getting a replacement from LG?

  • For those who have used a code from live chat, do you mind posting the code? I’d like to buy this weekend to attempt to stack with ShopBack cash back of 5.6%, but the ShopBack deal is only on until the 26th and the live chat won’t be back until the 27th. Thanks in advance!

  • Is anyone based in Sydney who hasn't received shipping info? I ordered on the 21st of Jan

    • I ordered on the 22nd, and the order has not progressed since. I called customer support today, and I'm told the order is coming as "On hold". The support lady said she will reach out to the team to get more information and then she will email me with an update (hopefully today).
