    ~$9 postage
    ~$10 express post

  • anyone knows if this is available at the stores as well, or just online?

    • +1

Yes, it is available at the stores and I bought from there.

    • +17

If you buy a 100 pack you don't take them all at once.

    • +2

Do you mind linking to some of these studies? I've always taken Paracetemol for most headaches, and only used Ibuprofen for really bad ones, or for muscle pains, because I was always told Ibuprofen was worse for you.

      • +4

Paracetamol is the single biggest cause of liver failure in Australia, even moreso than alcohol.

        http://www.news.com.au/top-stories/headache-tablets-killing-…

The United States almost made Paracetamol a prescription only drug because it was determined to be far more risky and notably less effective than Ibuprofen or Asprin. Instead they toughened regulations and the maximum allowable Paracetamol dosage will now be 500mg which is a single standard sized tablet in Australia. If you want further information then you can find it with a simple Google search.

Paracetamol taken correctly by 99% of the population is amongst the safest drugs we have. Taken in large overdose it can cause significant harm. The US FDA isn't so much concerned about correctly prescribed/used paracetamol, but is trying to limit the paracetamol that is combined with other products such as opioids. Their concern is the people who decide they want to take 10 of their oxycodone/paracetamol combined pills only to end up damaging their livers more than intended (forgetting about the paracetamol part).

        • +2

Strange so when I was about to undergo surgery and the nurses gave me paracetamol I should have declined it and asked for a shot of tequila?

It's fairly known by most that paracetamol abuse trashes your liver, are you seriously trying to say though that taking 1-2 paracetamol occasionally is worse for your liver than alcohol (which by the way no one has said worse than x amount of alcohol, just alcohol)?

        • -1

You do realise the largest number of overdoses admittes to hospital ia not caused by illicit drugs or alcohol? Care to take a guess which drug it is? (Hint: active ingredient in panamax)

        • +6

You heard it first here folks. Because a few unfortunate and/or mentally ill young people take too much paracetamol you should definitely not consider picking up a bargain on the drug for your own responsible use.

        • -4

          Accidental overdoses you idiot

        • +3

I think what you meant to say is, "idiots have accidental overdoses"?

        • +3

That's a hell of a lot of accidents, then.

        • +2

Only if you believe anything pharm86 says. Hospital admissions for accidental overdoses of paracetamol are rare. Far more common for people to be admitted because they overdosed on purpose, or for other things like too much alcohol. But then, I've only spent just under a year working as a doctor in emergency rooms, so what would I know? :)

Anecdotal evidence counts for very little

        • Mrukk you are correct. Paracetamol only causes liver failure when you overdose on it. You can safely take 2 x 500mg tablets every 4-6 hours as needed.

        • All of those articles involve people going over the recommended dosage though.

    • +3

This is a good deal. I don't care about your thoughts.

    • +1

Wrong my friend. Paracetamol side effects at the correct dose are almost non-existent. NSAIDs at the prescribed dose will cause peptic ulcers in many people.

The issue is that paracetamol has a low therapeutic index - i.e. the toxic dose is not significantly higher than the effective dose.

Ibuprofen / aspirin and any other NSAIDs are associated with peptic ulcers at very low but regular doses, so I'd be more worried about that to be honest.

Anyway, if there was a chemist warehouse near me I'd be buying these babies.

Ibuprofen ftw! Any good deals for Advil or nurofen?

    • +1

I can help you with that (and you can pick it up from Chemist Warehouse while you're there grabbing your panamax.) They sell Rafen, which is ibuprofen, 50 pack for less than $4.

As per all the warnings here about the health risks involved, take only the recommended dose, and see your doctor if pain persists.

People, try to avoid medicine if you can.

    They do you no good!!!

    • Please elaborate.

I mean people take paracetamol when they should be drinking water or avoiding drugs that have withdrawal effects, but there are some legitimate uses for it.

      • +5

True. What i meant was if people have small / light pains or aches etc should just rest more drink more water etc. Let your body "do" the work rather than using medicine which have some "poison" inside that might harm your body..

Of course, there are a lot of circumstances that you have to take medicine.

Just don't see medicine as lollies, that's all.

Ever heard of steven johnsons syndrome or acute liver toxicity?

    • +6

…..and thus remove yourself from the gene pool.

    • +5

Are you an advocate of homeopathy? :)

  • -5

    $9 postage, gtfo.

    • Not if you buy it in store.

  • +1

My mum prefers this over other paracetamol brands (Panadol etc.) so I should tell her about this one.

  • +1

There are of course more traditional forms of pain relief that won't do your liver in.

  • +3

All these bargains are giving me a headache. How quick is delivery?

  • WOW THATS A BARGAIN thanks for sharing.

  • It's this price in the store so if you are near a CW you can get the bargain. Just FYI, didn't buy any for myself.

  • +3

A friend of mine bought this for kris kringle for her colleague at work to tell him that he was such a pain to work with :P
