Pioneer SDJ08 8Inch Amplified Studio Monitors ($590/Pair Delivered) from Djwarehouse.com.au

100

For those of you looking for some decent studio or dj monitors I found a few sets of these at www.djwarehouse.com.au yesterday going for a lot less than any other retailer. To be very clear, these are the 8 inch versions selling for around the price of the smaller 5 inch versions.

I purchased a set and am extremely happy with them. Free delivery is good, considering they are 31kg per pair.

Specs here: http://www.pioneer.com.au/au/products/44/1974/33610/S-DJ08/s…

Pioneer are selling them for $1299 direct: http://shop.pioneer.com.au/shop-online/dj-equipment/speakers…
StoreDJ are selling them for $840: https://www.storedj.com.au/products/PIO-SDJ08

  • I'm looking for a powered set for an interactive whiteboard setup… I assume these are wall mountable with controls at the front, but probably an overkill? Know of a descent brand/model that would suit for an IWB setup?

    Goodluck!

  • Sorry for the noob question but my wife purchased me a single numark turntable with a very basic preamp built into it.

Would this allow me to just plug these pioneer speakers directly into the turntable with rca cables and play back vinyl ?

    • yeah would do the job well.

      • EDIT: nevermind

        • +1

these speakers have the amplifier built in. So my guess is that it would work, provided the turntable has a pre amp.

        • Yeah I realised my mistake after posting. Didn't notice they were amplified speakers :S

  • while on the topic of speakers, does anyone know of where to get a basic pair of pa speakers 10-15 inch and 4-8 ohm.
i have been searching and the crappy ones are hard to pick out from the good ones. I have a budget of $300.

  • Are these suitable for a home theatre set up if I just want stereo sound?

    • They go deep enough (43Hz to 26kHz) and are reviewed as 'prosumer' monitors. They should be fine.

    • IMO there are better options for the price. I don't like these speakers at all, but I do love good studio monitors. You might not like the flat sound for movies but if you like detailed and accurate sound characteristics over exaggerated bass then studio monitors are definitely for you.

  • can i use these with a computer?

    • Yep

      • cool. looks like im ordering one for the bedroom. now time to make some interconnects to split the stereo into two speakers.
