Download the software from the page. After install and launch, you will be guided through the registration via xara website. I have registered and it is hassle free and works perfect. Just make sure that you enter your email in the "Register immediately online" splash screen. You will be then sent an activation and guided to complete steps. Software may not look outstanding, but from what I have tried so far, is quite decent considering this is free.
I can vouch for this software, it's excellent.
There's an independent Australian forum dedicated to Xara software for support or just posting your graphics or websites created with the software, the forum is also excellent.

Eh? I'm not sure how anyone can actually have a dig at a freebie. It's amazing how people think. They get wound up by free offers. Free!
Just because there's a newer version, does it mean the previous version is now "worth" nothing? I don't see how that works.

Seems to get some good reviews. Note that this is version 6 which is superceded by 2013. The reference at the linked site to being worth $89 is therefore rubbish.
