[VIC, NSW, QLD, SA] $50 Credit for Gas or Electricity for Both Referee & Referrer When Switching @ Globird Energy

380

A $50 incentive to switch to Globird via referral. Globird do Gas and electricity

Both parties get $50 as an account credit: - the referrer gets $50 when the new account is transferred to GloBird.
The new customer’s (referee) gets $50 referral bonus on their second invoice.
I noticed a 'clawback' clause whereby:(globirdenergy.com.au)
'If the referred account is closed within the first 3 months, any already paid referral credit of will be reversed'

Might suit some people if the rates work out in your area - I would always carefully compare all available deals.

      very very expensive

Cheapest option in inner city Melbourne on last check

    • +1

Cheapest option for me now. I am currently with Pacific Blue, as they were the cheapest out of everyone. But theyre going up from $0.352/kwh to $0.45 or the like…

Funnily enough i switched from Globird last time, as Origin put their prices through the roof last time lol. Oh well, I don't give a rats ass who I'm with, as long as I get the best rate!

Will be ringing Pacific Blue tomorrow and asking if they can do better, if not I'll go back to Globird.

      • +1

I’m also with Pacific Blue and received an email about the price change. I’m currently looking for a new energy company, and Globird seems like the best option right now.

  • Do they have Demand tarrifs? I hate those!

Much more exxy than my $0.28 pre gst.

    • They offer the choice in my area - can go two tier or flat rate.
      YMMV

  • +5

Cheapest electricity rates for Eastern Melbourne.

  • They increased my rates by 40% after 6 months. Switched to AGL which was surprisingly cheaper.

    • I think the best play with this, is to collect your $50 (you have to stay 3 months) and as always, keep moving if they crank the rates or you find better deal.

      • +1

the higher rates probably cost you more than the $50

        • Depends on your local service provider. Always got to compare but for me, it's cheaper. Anytime I find a better deal, I'll move on

          • @King Tightarse: for sure, I've been looking but with the current rates I'm on plus monthly $10 for each referral I've made my current provider is as good as it gets

  • I just signed up today and saw this now. Do I need to cancel and resign with a referral code?

    • +1

      Yes

  • Dang I was checking them out last week and was about to get a plan, went to look this morning and their rates have genuinely jumped 50%… absolutely insane and I will no longer be using them.

  • Do they notify you when they change their rates or do you need to keep an eye on the bill each month?

    • I am sure they would have to notify

  • Are Globird strict with their "new customer" condition for this offer? Has anyone successfully qualified as a new customer by using a new sign up email? (but same phone number)

    • +2

Yeah I've been with them before and gotten the sign up bonus twice.

  • Why vic. energy.gov.au recommended me this one a
    S
    The cheapest than my covau?

    • Yeah cheaper and you get a referral bonus if you use someone's referral code

      • But its not giving any offers from ecoonex. But other say it is expensive

        • Don't go via econnex go directly and use one of our referral codes.

The cost per kWh and daily supply charge is the cheapest for me

          • @edrift: Anyway econnex not offering any discound for globird for 150 electricity and 100 for gas

  • -1

How do we get a referral code to use ?

    • +2

Theres a hyperlink in the big grey box that says refferal links. Press the "random" text.

  • +3

    Thanks OP and used it.
I am switching between AGL and Globird back and forth at the moment as one or the other usually is cheapest in my area (even without incentives). With those it’s even more enticing.

    Regards

  • +1

Thanks OP, cheaper than AGL & used the $50 referral

    • Check out Lumo as globird increased their rates 30% effective 1 aug.

I switched to Lumo now and their rates are
      21.912 c/KWH 83.259 c per Day

Compared with globird 25.5c kWh and $1.089/day

Lumo also offer $25 gift card

      • -1

Lumo have lousy reviews on productreview and Google.

        • +1

Does it matter? They are a retailer and don't actually supply the power to your home. They just collect payment.

          • @edrift: Well, yes. People have had a reason to give bad reviews. Any time a service is provided there is the possibility of stuff ups and bad service.

      • It's actually crazy how cheap eastern states are for elecrticity vs SA

  • -1

Unfortunately the referral only lets you pick one plan. They have 4 plans (at the address I used) including 100% renewable or carbon offset ones. Use the code 'WELCOME' to select these.

    • Not true, I could choose my plan and still got the referral

      • Maybe they've changed it since I posted that or it's different for your address.

  • +1

The referral system for this needs to be changed to one where you randomly message a user for them to message back with a code (or their email address) as the existing referral code only applies to one plan.

    • +1

That system sucks, as people spam multiple people and you never know if they used your referral or someone else’s.

  • I resigned after I moved away from them due to high rates. I'm guessing they will jack up the rates soon after and the cycle begins.

  • +1

I've just come back to Globird after a stint with Tango. Globird now cheapest in Eastern Melbourne and the $50 bonus always helps.
