I've got the non 3d version of this and my god the cooler is bad. i wish it was easily replaceable. idle for me is over 55c with a noctua fan making a a decent amount of noise. also had to unsub from their mailing list 3-4 times even though i never signed up for it.
This. if you intend to use the stock cooler, you still more-or-less need to replace the thermal paste and pads.
Using your own cooler (tower/AIO/Custom loop) is possible with some jerry rigging (pga998b mounting bracket plus no IHS), but then you need to sort out custom cooling for the VRM, which run HOT.
This is not really worth the price increase from the 7945hx or 7940hx versions. While it's better the uplift won't be that significant as those chips already have a solid amount of cache.
Really was hoping this would be closer to $700aud
Yeh, I think if this was $750 to $800 it'd be worth it.
Maybe they'll release "SE" version like they did with the BD795i-SE (assuming one does not care about the wifi card or the fan/heatsink over the M.2 slots)
IIRC the other difference is the "SE" version has USB-C 3.2, where-as the full-fledged version has USB4.
how is the shipping compared to their Amazon store?
Amazon stock is already in Australia, directly from them I'm pretty sure it's from China, so expect it to be slower.
That said, I seem to rarely wait more than a week for anything from aliexpress these days.
Why are X3D boards so popular?
Love that heatsink and how it integrity with MB.
Will look stunning with tiny case with 1U PSU >200W.
