Just saw this which seems like a decent deal on the A6700. If you sign up to their newsletter you can get another $50 off. Shipping was $13 (standard with signature) or $19 (express with signature) to Sydney for me but they have physical stores for pickup in QLD.

Also saw JB Hi-Fi have it on sale to match at $1,698.30, which will have much more availability for click and collect closer to you. If you have the $30 off $300 spend, you can get it down to $1,668.30.

Is it considered old? it was released around 1.5 years ago.

I have a feeling UncommonName misread the title as "a6000"

        • Yeah, it's weird cos three others upvoted their comment so I thought I was missing something.

Yeh absolutely not. It's not even two years old - which is nothing in camera years. It's still got top-notch autofocusing plus IBIS which is had to get at this price point.

    held value extremely well.

  • There's a targeted Amex/Sony offer, spend $300 get $40 back, ending on 20 March. There's also a PayPal/Sony offer, spend $300 get $40 off using code PAYPAL40 ending before midnight.

Currently there's 8% CR cashback from Sony, excluding GST.

    Potentially $1,531.33

    • Coupon can void cashback. It may track initially but Sony can reject it 1-2 months down the line when they reconcile it.

      • Good call, then the Amex offer is more assured.

    • Are you meaning get the Sony website to pricematch and then get the 8% back through cash rewards? Does that work for pricematches?

I'd have thought this in the terms invalidated cashbacks from pricematches "Purchases using any type of discount which lowers price advertised on the Merchant site, including but not limited to employee discounts, student discounts."

      • You can't rely on price matching by Sony. Two different occasions including a very recent one were ignored.

  • Best lens to go with this frame?!

    • Depends entirely on the focal length you like to use and how much you want to spend.
      Sigma primes
      Sigma 18-50
      Tamron 17-70
      Sony 16-55 F2.8G
      Sony 70-350
      etc etc etc

      • Something for a newb, nothing too extreme or bulky (if that's a thing)
I suppose Sigma 18-50 is the one

        • For travel the Sigma would be the better lens to go with. I went with the Sony 16-55 cause of its sharpness which rivals prime lenses. It’s a little heavy for travelling though.

        • I personally have the Sony FE 35mm f2.8 ZA on my a7iii when travelling - only 120g.
But yeah, I second tooch83, depends on what you're trying to achieve and how much you're willing to spend.

Tamrom and Samyang are good budget alternatives, just keep in mind materials/build quality/weather proofing.

Sony 18-105mm fixed F4 is a brilliant lens that covers everything and is ~$500. It's decently wide and has enough zoom to get by for most cases. It's my go to travel lens.

  • I’ll add my 2c.

I bought this camera in December (I think) during JB’s deal. Also bought sigma 18-50 f2.8 and then Sony 18-105 f4. First bought Sony since Sigma was not available, then found a display unit of Sigma ($650). I thought Sigma would be a better lense, light , compact, and fast. But, I tend to use more and more Sony lense as the image quality, clarity is much better. Sony is bit bigger, and bit slow for APSC body though.

If I get money, I’d be sticking to another Sony maybe G master 24-50.

  • Looks like it's expired

    • The JB Hifi price is still available though

    • Nice. I've resisted clicking the buy button so far but glad someone could get some use out of it
