Instead I just bought the Samsung 27" G6 OLED at $754.15 (w/ Secret Sales discount + $100 Trade in credit + 10% sales assistant voucher + $100 off Amex offer + 5% cashback). Originally $1499, that's around a 49% discount. Finally going to get a taste of what all the OLED hype is about.

    • Is it ATL?

      • Yes. Although there are 2 models, one is G6 gen 2 (240hz). The one I bought is G6 gen 3 (360hz w/ RGB backlight ring).

  • Bugger, I missed this :-(

  • bought two. Thanks

    Its gone up now:

If people missed out, don't be too bummed. A note from a person that bought this and returned it. The colors, saturation and black levels were a lot worse then my 10 year old Dell monitor. Yes, my Dell monitor cost a lot more than this at $550 in 2015 but still…..there should be progress in 10 years but this monitor just looks bad for any photo and video consumption / work. Now if you just want it for high refresh rate gaming, ok, fine but anything else it's better to get a used Dell monitor or something if your budget is tight with much better display specs.

Sounds like a comment from someone who missed out on a great deal.

Show me a monitor thats 34" , WQHD, Curved and 165hz for less than $200

The colors, saturation and black levels were a lot worse then my 10 year old Dell monitor.

Screen needs calibration and will look better after. Hardware calibration is best

      • No amount of calibration will work. I even burned in the monitor for 1 week before calibration. I mean it is good for gaming but not for media consumption like photo and videos. Just not enough colours and saturation. Blacks will crush with no detail will be the first thing observed even after calibration. If you do not have a mid spec monitor side by side, I guess not knowing what you are missing out on is a good thing but like I said, for gaming, it's excellent for the price.

          Challenge accepted

@easternculture: Make sure you calibrate your eyes first. :-)

            • +1

@Dollar Dreamer: A few threads on the net about people being able to calibrate this monitor and improve color accuracy. Google is your mate

              • @easternculture: Like I said, still very bad for photo and video.

                • +3

@Dollar Dreamer: Maybe at RRP. But for $160, it will be awesome after calibration

                  • -2

@easternculture: yea, but it won't be. :-) It just cannot technically display enough colours or have the saturation levels. Increasing gamma and brightness to see shadow detail, destroys all the other settings. But for gaming it is great and for $160 a steal. For video / photo, quite a bad display even with calibration.

Received delivery confirmation message from ANC, looks like they have allocated stock

    • +1

Same , just got my sms now with delivery on 13th

      • I booked for the 17th, need to organise a broken monitor 😂

        • Council pickups, you will find one

        • So you've put your order through but you're trying to find a broken monitor? When you checkout don't you have to submit information about the monitor you intent to trade in? I was in your footsteps and contacted Samsung, they said they will charge me $100 if the monitor doesn't match the description I provided. Alternatively, they gave me a website to the recycling team and told me to contact them directly about it as they have no control in changing the monitor description.

          • @devisticshash: No one cares when picking up the recycling monitor

          • @devisticshash: Got the monitor delivered today, traded in a $5 monitor picked up from the marketplace, old mate didn't care what it was. He just had to tick recycling pick up in his app.

  • I could have done with one of these for my desktop setup and retired my two 22" monitors from 15yrs ago to being used with my work laptop. Oh well, maybe next time.

  • +1

    I've owned two of these.

First one developed a green hue on the monitor just outside of warranty.

Bought a second one (stupid me), have already taken it back for warranty. Random static appears on screen. Updated FW, factory reset, new HDMI and DP cables tried and adjusted all different refresh settings, and still randomly does it even after panel and board replacement at warranty.

Ultimately, cheap garbage, even at that price i'd reconsider, or maybe i just got a lemon.

    • Maybe dodged a bullet missing out, but then again at $200 I would roll them dice I reckon.

For $161, willing to give it a shot.
With a size of 34" , WQHD, Curved and 165hz, not going to find anything remotely close to $300.

      • How did you get it that cheap?

        • +2

          $229 with code -> $179 with Old Monitor Trade-In) -> $161 with 10% loyalty code

    • Nice, so jealous

Also after tweaking the monitor a bit, its not that bad for videos @ $161, plus they saved me a trip to the tip to dispose of an old dell monitor

        • out of interest, did you refer to a guide or recommendations for the tweaking? or just did to your own preference?

          • @swampson: Just looked up reddit until i can find my hardware calibration tool

            • @easternculture: It sounds like a lot of work needed. I guess we do get what we pay for and in this case not much. But then again I will be very surprised if it proves to be a POS as a replacement for my 15 year old LG tv/monitor

        • +1

Had a look at one on display at mwave and the screen doesn't look that bad at all for the price. Just some physical limitations including no height adjustment and no speakers for a basic set up but I do have some regrets not getting it at this price. Great deal overall.

          • +2

            @kaebomb:

Just some physical limitations including no height adjustment

I have a few dell stands with height adjustment. Going to see if i can mod one for this

    • did they want the old one?

      • Yep

        • cheers, facebook marketplace it is then :D

  • Anyone find that the display does not wake from sleep? Most monitors from even 15 years ago will switch themselves on when your computer comes out of sleep mode, but this monitor doesn't.

  • Paypal hold is gone from Credit card and Samsung can find no record of purchase. Guess we can't all win with pricing errors.

Now what am I going to do with this old broken monitor I got for free from Marketplace?

    • Leave it for next deal.
I have 2 old monitors in the garage ready for next samsung tv/monitor price error to trade in

      • I'm counting on you to find the next one :)

  • will this be upgrade/downgrade from Philips 328P6V 32" 4K Flat LCD? 100% office work

  • Its been a while since I got electronics with large external power brick. Even my laptop chargers have it built into the plug. What is Samsung doing…
