Belong Mobile Starter Kits: $45 100GB for $20 + $5.99 Delivery | $30 25GB for $15 In-store Only @ JB Hi-Fi

170

JB Hifi have a discount on Belong Mobile sim cards.

100GB Belong Sim Card - Usually $45, now $20.

25GB Belong Sim Card - Usually $30, now $15.

I can only find the 100GB sim listed on the website, however the 25GB deal was also available in-store.

The product page on the website says 'Online Only', however in-store they have the deal highlighted in the sim card section, and it was the discounted price when I checked out at the till.

PSA: Belong now supports ESIM but you still need to activate via physical sim then switch to esim.

    • Is that documented anywhere? It still says esim coming real soon now in FAQ. I guess it's a soft launch or beta testing still?

    • How do you switch to esim? Just activated and theres nowhere to switch to esim.

      • they ran into some issues, temporarily disabled

  • Thanks OP.

    Currently with them.

Any suggestions on who to port away to for a few hours, and then port back?

      Amaysim

I used a Telstra 7 days SIM I bought on eBay for $3.50, ported to Telstra, and then ported back to Belong in less than 10 minutes.

      • Yes, probably one year ago. There's no such thing on eBay for a while.

If you don't use the transitional SIM at all, $2 Telstra SIM is the best option.

        • +1

You're righ, that was in early 2024. Now, the price has changed to $5.25.

  • do i need a new email address whenever i port back to Belong? my goal is to get the $20 referral

    • I was thinking the same

      • +3

        here's my experience:
        - yes new email address needed to use the referral code
        - new email address = need to verify identity again
        - there's a few gmail trick that we can use. works for me.

The same 100GB deal is available at Officeworks

    • It was the same price of $20 shortly after you commented but it's now back up to the normal price.

just ported about a month ago, wish can use this voucher as top-up

    • +1

      This isn't a voucher, it's a SIM starter pack.

    • Via replacement sim car option. Once per half year. If you argue a bit more, saying the sim not working well or poor signal or often missed call message etc, maybe twice but I doubt they will let you do more. Recently there is some changes for new activations you will need to provide drivers licence for identify verification.

      • Does same ID, different email qualify for the $20 referral?

        • Yes, sure does.

  • has anyone been able to port from
    - Belong to Boost?
    - Boost to Belong?

both are using Telstra network. Any issues encountered?

    • -1

Check coverage. Spent two hours on the phone to India today, concluded Belong SIM was faulty. Turns out SIM works but my area is not covered though I have a Telstra tower 50m away. Apparently Boost is available locally.

      • Belong uses 98.8% of Telstra's network coverage.

        https://www.telstra.com.au/aboutus/belong#:~:text=Belong%20u….

I believe Boost has full access to Telstra's network.

        back to my qn:

has anyone been able to port from
        - Belong to Boost?
        - Boost to Belong?

both are using Telstra network. Any issues encountered?

        • After 2 hours call to India I was told Belong uses the wholesale network - 75%.
          Boost uses the full network.

        • +2

I believe I have ported between the two in the past, there shouldn't be any issues.

In my experience, porting between two providers on the same network can take longer (sometimes a day or more, depending on when the port is initiated). But porting between two different network providers can happen very quick, sometimes in minutes.

And yes, Boost is the full Telstra Retail network, you'll notice you even sign in to your Boost account through telstra.com.au. Although Belong is owned by Telstra, the network is the same as any other Telstra Wholesale MVNO (i.e Woolworths, Tangerine, Aldi, etc.).

          - Boost to Belong?

yes, i often port between them, takes 10-15min - never encountered any issues :)

  • Anyone could instruct me how to pay the min. for 3 months with the Ozbargain tricks? Thanks.

    • +1

get the randomised referral code from the top for $20.
      total credit: $45 + $20 = $65

      1st month: $29
      2nd and 3rd month: $21 x 2
      Total: $71

      cash topup $6

      • Yes, $45 pack + $20 referral credit is best option for longer service.
As you showed: 3 months for $26 spend.

        $35 pack ($17 @Coles) + $20 referral credit only gives 2 months
        1st month: $29
        2nd month: $21
Total: $50 (with $5 not used)

  • Does big w sell belong?

But they don't price match anymore 😢

    • Not sure about Big W, but Officeworks does and they have a 5% price beat.

      • Officeworks does and they have a 5% price beat.

        +1 :)

  • Is this ongoing or only one month or a fixed period? interested in the 25gb plan. Cheers.

    • +1

This is only for the sim starter pack, so after the first month it will be $30 for the 25GB plan.

Or you can downgrade to their 7GB plan for $21/month (this plan isn't visible on their website, you can only select it when logged in to your Belong account).

Just asked JB hifi Carindale and they said it would probably last till 2nd April. It might run out though.

  • There's something about production date should be within one year that @INFIDEL mentioned. However I activated one sim online without any issues that were production date March 2022.

Also it does mention on the packet that it expires with one year of purchase. That should probably be mentioned in the description.

Can anyone else confirm JB hifi sale expiry date of 2nd April 2025?

    • PRODUCTION DATE WARNING added below.

1 year after purchase - no longer can activate SIM… But some of us have by contacting Belong.

  • +1

    BELONG SIM PRODUCTION DATE WARNING
BELONG customer service warned production date on SIM pack should only be around 1 year old.
Up to 2 years old seems fine by past comments & my experience.

BELONG said they can't tell if SIM is EXPIRED (can't be activated), until you try to activate it.

Unknowingly bought an EXPIRED $45 SIM pack on sale @Woolies…
BELONG said just take back to store😜

Found Retailers won't refund or exchange after purchase!!
As soon as you leave store - "how do we know you haven't used it"… And say third party items sold by store is nothing to do with them.

BELONG refused to send replacement SIM pack!

    Took weeks to resolve.
BELONG could only add credit from EXPIRED SIM to a new SIM pack. I would have to pay for it💰
Also means losing a $20 referral credit - you could normally apply 2 $20 credits over 2 SIMs.

Needed to buy a full price $45 pack to receive what I had already bought less than 1/2 that price😜
(Not on sale at that time, needed to gift 600GB to new SIM that day, or lose it.)

Told Belong, Coles & Woolies - it is their responsibility to ensure EXPIRED SIMS are NOT SOLD by retailers. Local Woolies removed very old SIMs & threw them out in front of me.

Unfortunately my consumer advice is still being ignored.

    It's Buyer Beware😮
Before purchase - CHECK PRODUCTION DATE on back of Pack!!

Coles - $35 for $17 on sale until Tues
Saw in store today, not in catalog.
Production Date: 5/9/22 - too risky!!
Should be fresher stock at other Coles stores.

    $45 100GB for $20 is better option
    Still on sale @JB 30/3

When you run out of monthly Data on BELONG…

You can't change plan in current month to get more Data! Change happens following month.

Can buy it at a high price from BELONG… $10 for 5GB

Or get a gift of data from friend, or buy online or classifieds.

    But cheapest option is…
FREE (slowed) data until the following month of service.
I've consistently used 2.5GB/d of that free data!!
Watched lower definition movies & docos on SBS On Demand etc, downloaded, & usual data use.

    On $21 7GB Monthly plan:
    Received this SMS (19/1/25)
"Hello. you're out of data. You still have an internet connection but it'll be very slow until (next billing date) 02/02/25. Get back to normal speeds now by logging into your account and adding more data: belong.com.au/login-page. Thanks Belong."

Account showed No data left until next month of service on 3/2/25

Graph of 30GB of free Data useage from 19/1 until next 7GB added

*Data speed depends on usage at local towers & varies by time of day.

  • Saw an actual sign that says ends today. I presume it'll end midnight aedt.

    • Has ended as promised. In future what evidence is needed to put an expiry date on it?
