Great find, I use their Glory one and it’s really good, this should be as strong

  • +13

    RRP $169.00

Meaningless RRP. Price constantly bounces between $169 with 50% off coupon or $89 no coupon.

  • +4

I thought they were earbuds from the thumbnail image :$

    • +6

If you game enough everything can be earbuds

    • +1

Came here to say the same. The bass will blow you away.

  • +7

I've got one, and its a great buy at this price, comparable to hair dryers that are in the range of many hundreds of dollars more.
Although it isn't a big a discount as that RRP would have you believe, its fairly regularly on sale and rarely at that RRP, although it tends to go on sale and then out of stock, so thats an additional complicating factor. Its cheaper than I've usually seen it as I got it at $95.

    • +1

Just curious, what makes it stand out from cheaper hairdryers? Currently looking to replace my one that caught fire and keep telling myself they all essentially do the same thing (blow hot air) to try talk myself out of buying the expensive ones

      • +2

This moves a lot of air, and is quieter than normal hair dryers (just the noise of air movement, no high pitch fan)

At this price it's not unreasonably more than a cheap one, even so still has a bit of a premium on it. Can something similar cheaper still on AliExpress.

      • +1

Project Farm covered it not too long ago

        • Thanks for sharing this. Dyson is indeed a scam.

    • Curious does this have an AU plug?

      • +1

Yes, proper insulated AU plug (not an upside down Chinese one)

  • +2

    Thumbnail looks like earphones

    • +2

I do not recommend putting these to your ears when switched on

    • THIS! Was about to comment lols

This shit is like CNY 70 from taobao unbranded. (About $15 kangaroo bucks) Bought one and works perfectly

    • +1

how would i search to find this on taobao?

      • +8

I assume something like “unbranded Dreame Hair Gleam Hair Dryer for CNY 70 or $15 Kangaroo bucks”

      • +7

Assuming that you can't read Chinese, I suggest finding what you want on an English based website like Aliexpress (e.g. searching for "ion hairdryer"), then saving a copy of the product image and doing an image search in Taobao. This will work in most cases unless it is a particularly niche product.

Alternatively, do an image search of a similar item and then use the keywords from the listing to find other items. For example, some of the keywords on one of the top results for the above product image in Taobao is: "负离子护发家用高速大风 力电吹风宿舍速干灰色"

        • Why is Taobao and not temu? Temu is ranked higher in terms of saving with lower quality of products. But the thing is taobao never does cheap shipping to AU unless they change. Taobao offers cheap delivery option though rail network to southeast asia as those countries have access to.

There's an international version Taobao which is in English when I last visited.

          • @bcYield: Yes you can change the language in the Taobao app but many items are unavailable (it literally tells you to change back to the Chinese "version" to check out).

            • -1

@Dumax: The international Taobao version is designed for oversea buyers, and sellers are to know how. Hence, less options and limited variety. While the Chinese version is for locals and the seller might not ship to overseas and reject the order or the warranty. Ali and temu deal with warranty better.

Your mom forgot to tell you how to clean your mouth?

    • CNY219 from the official Dreame store on Taobao, not sure if unbranded is the same thing.

  • Anyone have a suggestion for a quiet one without negative ion generator?

    • +1

Quiet hairdryer seems like an oxymoron! Negative ion stuff is BS though. It's like quantum consciousness. Cool words but don't mean anything in combination; only individually.

  • okie buy one now. been using the hair dryer that I got from a friend for 5 years ish already. And that took too long to drive the hair

  • +2

Similar to Xiaomi Mijia H501 110k RPM hairdryer sold on AliExpress. I got one for around $45 few months ago and works great. EU plug though so needed an adapter.

    • +3

Silimar look and specs from a quick check.

    • Yes this. I would guess it's just a rebrand.

And it's very comparable to our Dysons.

    • How did you get it for $45. Its around $70 on AE at the moment and I don't think it is a Xiaomi product. There has been a barrage of sellers on Aliexpress badging every literal product with Xiaomi or Mijia brand name when the product has nothing to do with the company.

      • Paid $35 USD for it back in Aug-24. It must’ve been on sale at AliExpress. I think one of the cashback sites had 15%+ cashback too at the time.

  • +1

How does this compare to a Dyson supersonic in terms of performance?

  • +2

Kmart has their own Anko clone now too for $50.
Never used any of them to compare though … 👴

  • I have one of these. I have quite thick hair, and it doesn't dry my hair very fast.

It's probably healthier than the cheap remington I used to have, but kind of annoying to have to stand there for ages to try and dry it enough so the waters not weighing it all down.

    • +3

I have quite thick hair too which also took ages to blow dry.

Since I shaved my balls I don't need a hair dryer anymore.

      • +1

        Hahaha got me

      • Haha damn

  • +1

I bought a Xiaomi hair dryer once, and just like the one in this deal, it was 1600 Watts only. You won't easily find Chinese devices that exceed 1600 Watts. This means it won't dry your hair as fast as the ones on the market here, which are typically something like 2200 Watts.

  • It comes with one nozzle only. :(
Wish it also includes one for curly hair.

  • I'm no expert, but would like to know why I wouldn't get this one instead for $59.49? Its rated 2200W and comes with 3 attachments:

edit: updated price as it includes a 15% off coupon on top of the already 36% off!

    • +1

Ive got limited knowledge but maybe because this dreame uses a brushless motor which needs less power to run for the same or even more output?

    • I got one of these for my mum but a different 'brand', NewDora, and its weak af, feels like a cheap $20 hair dryer.

    • +2

Not really the same thing, but there are cheaper options that are.
Quick search of Amazon gives me…
      $63.10 after 25% coupon, with 3 attachments
$68.38 after 10% off in cart
      $69.99
or as dufflover mentioned above Kmart has one $49 which is probably pretty much the same.

      • FWIW, got one the AINA hairdryers while it was still $63.10 (so kids don't have to take mums Dreame).

It's slightly more compact but the Dreame is definitely moving more air (though I don't have anything to test properly). It's more noticable on the 1st setting, on the max setting there seems less between them (the Dreame states 65m/s speed and 55m3/h volume, the AINA 60m/s, no volume stated)

Unfortunately the attachments aren't compatible between them. Same size but the AINA has that ring in the middle that sticks out a few mm (which look like might be a copy of the Dyson attachments).

So for that price, happy enough with it. I noticed after that the next two I linked are stating air speed of only 24m/s and 22m/s so probably not good alternatives to the Dreame.

    • I bought this one before and it's horrible. Returned it straight after.

Bought the one OP posted and my wife loves it. It's 70% of Dyson at like 1/5 of the price.

  • Buy now or wait until the Big Sale next week?

  • +1

I bought this for my wifes xmas prezzy and she loves it, my mum tried it and did too so we got one on this deal for mothers day.

Dreame is part of the Xiaomi family so likely same performance as a Mijia hair dryer from Ali.

Worth getting this as it does have an AU plug and amazon does 30 day free returns for prime members.

Only negative about this is the nozzle attachment is magnetic, its strong enough while your shaking it around but if you knock something it will come right off, durable though as its hit the ground a few times and is still fine

  • Oh, and the other thing. The nozzle easily falls off if you knock it, it's a very light magnetic strip. And the air intake thing on the bottom is quite flimsy.

I mean, Dyson is a shit tonne more expensive but I doubt you'd find this kind of flimsyness from them.
