Fun game. Wish I got it on my phone instead of Steam… Can't take my PC into the bathroom at work

Can't take my PC into the bathroom at work

The Steam Deck exist to play on the toilet.

      • it'll be real suspicious if I walk to bathroom with a black brick 3 times a day.

Do what i do. Buy the and Android version and then use Bluestacks 5 to emulate on PC.
      Works a treat

EDIT: Using bluestacks you download your purchased playstore version. I dont mean pirating it on PC.

      • I do the same thing but I connect my phone to the PC and use scrcpy to mirror my screen. It works seamlessly and it's lightweight as well.

    • If you use iPhone, subscribe Apple Arcade. Cheaper rate available from Apple India. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/806126

You can convert the game to mobile
      https://github.com/blake502/balatro-mobile-maker

For Android it works a treat.

      • wtf that's awesome

      • Oh wow. I already have both versions but tye potential for mods one day on android would be nice

I think I've sunk a good 10 hours in this game playing on public transport and flights (on Android)

Would definitely recommend buying the game on mobile, so long as your eyesight is good enough to read the small fonts (there's no font scaling options)

    • Do you find that it chews battery?

      • +1

Yeah. I was surprised at how hot my phone got while playing the game, and this is a Snapdragon based Galaxy S23 Plus. Guess it's not well optimised.

        • +2

On samsung phones if you have gaming hub / game booster enabled you can set the refresh rate to power saving mode and 48hz refresh rate for games.

For games like balatro that aren't action packed you can have lowest settings on phone to help avoid the chip/screen getting too hot

          • @Julzx: Good idea, didn't think of capping the FPS. I've set it to half speed (30FPS) and the CPU usage seems to have reduced by maybe 20% during gameplay.

        • definitely recommend to turn off animations (reduce motion), and shadows.

      10 hours

God I wish Apple had a way to track game time

  • +1

    10/10 can recommend

  • Great game, but wish I could buy in 1 place for PC/Android/Apple.
At the moment I have to RDP into my seedbox to utilise my gamepass version of the game to play on my Macbook on the couch haha

  • on game pass also. gonna be a wetstick and say im glad i tried it there before falling for the hype, its simply not my kind of game

    • +1

      And that’s ok.

Reminder that returns are free and easy on steam too for those who have less than 2 hrs game time and within 14 days. All mine have been processed within hours of claim lodgement.

      • +1

true. and it is a good price for a game with this kind of replayability for sure. im glad it works for a lot of people!

Unpopular opinion but overrated game imo

    • I prefer hearthstone

    • I thought i was just dead inside. Didn't love it, returned it - not my game style I guess.

      • Yea just didn't enjoy the randomness but i guess that's card games

        • +1

Balatro is a roguelike so it's always going to be random like other roguelike games out there. It's knowing what strategy to adopt to counteract this that is important to a roguelike mechanic. For Balatro, that is having money!

          • @Windthunder: Oh its P2W?

            • @Franc-T: No, it isn't pay to win. In fact there is no in game currency or even DLCs. Roguelike means the difficulty of the game comes from the random generation. Know how to deal with the "randomness" is the strategy to doing well in the game.

The "money" I am referring to in Balatro is the reward you get for beating each round. That money is what you use to purchase jokers and manipulate your deck to your benefit. Knowing how to get more of this money is key to winning and you can do this by money generating jokers, money-generating tarot cards, by playing less hands, through interest from saving and carrying money to the next round.

    • It can be good and overrated. I haven't played it but can't see how it can't be overrated since it is rated so highly by some people; feels like they are purposely setting it up to be a let down just due to the overwhelming hype.

      • it's just poker but people have made it out to be more than that. it's really not

  • +1

Good game but I can't ever win , not talented enough

  • What is this game about….

    • Cards :P

Its a cross between poker and a deck builder.

    • Rogue like poker game where you use your winnings to buy special jokers cards that offer passives that cause you to break the game.

  • Included in Apple Arcade if you have it.

  • I got hooked on it from the collab on Dave the Diver lmao.
Its fun, its ridiculously fun 😅
